Check local ordinances and regulations to ensure compliance.

Contact your local utility companies to mark any underground cables and

pipelines before digging any holes.

It’s a good idea to discuss plans with any neighbors along your proposed

fence line.

Diagrams show 3-rail gate kit. The 2-rail gate kit installs the same way,

with one less rail and two less hinges.

ITEMS YOU MAY NEED

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

1. Dig post holes 18" – 24" in diameter and 36" to 48" deep (depending on local ordinance

or expected frost depth in winter).

2. Backﬁll the holes with 6" of gravel.

3. Mix concrete in the hole for the hinge post per the instructions on the bag. Install the

post into the hole and tap the post to the proper depth. We recommend inserting a

piece of 4x4 treated lumber to support the gate hinge post.

4. Using a level, ensure post is plumb. Brace the post with temporary supports as the

concrete sets (per the instructions).

5. Repeat with second hole.

1. Subtract 1-1/4" from the total gate opening

to determine your gate width. This will allow

for a 5/8" gap on both sides of the gate

between the posts.

2. Trim rails 4-1/8" less than the

desired gate width (found in

step 1) using a circular saw or

hand saw. This will allow space

for the gate jambs.

3. Slide the trimmed rails into the rail pockets in

the jambs to conﬁrm square and proper ﬁt.

DO NOT GLUE. Double-check all measure-

ments before proceeding to assembly.

STEP 3 – ASSEMBLE THE GATE NOTE: PVC glue cures quickly. Please read all assembly steps prior to beginning and work quickly to ensure proper assembly. 1. Remove one jamb from the rails and add a generous stripe of glue inside the jamb along all rail pockets. 2. Keeping the gate square, slide the gate jamb with the glue onto the ranch rails. Ensure the rails are fully inserted in the jamb and top and bottom rails are flush with the jamb. Recheck for square and adjust as necessary. 3.

STEP 5 – INSTALL THE GATE 1. Align the rails on the gate with the rails on the existing fence. There must be at least a 2" gap from ground to bottom rail for the gate to function properly. Be sure to test swing direction before attaching brackets to post. 2" gap minimum ground 2. Secure the gate in place with blocks under the gate or clamp the jamb on the gate to the post. Adjust hinges to make sure the gate is level and square.
