Installing the
SIM card
The e285 device supports the installation of a GSM SIM (Subscriber Identity
Module). Use the following procedures to install a SIM card.
To install or replace
the card
1 Follow the steps in Installing the SIM card.
2 Insert the SIM card with the gold contacts facing down.

3 Place the battery cover back and tighten the screw.

Using the
Battery
The e285 device uses a single cell Li-ion battery. The internal logic of the battery
prevents both overcharging and undercharging (a fault condition in which the
battery level goes well below the minimum acceptable charge and the battery
becomes unusable).
Battery Features
The following are features of the battery:
• Single Li-ion cell.
• A safety circuit that:
• Prevents cell damage from overcharge, over-discharge, or overheating.
CAUTION
Observe standard precautions when handling electrostatically sensitive devices.
Electrostatic discharges can damage this equipment. Verifone recommends using
a grounded anti-static wrist strap.

NOTE
The e285 device will only operate when the battery is installed.
