Easy To Understand In Any Language
Easy to use in any language, the OMNI 395 can display prompts,
responses and messages in graphic characters such as those used
in Chinese, Thai, Arabic and Cyrillic-based languages. Users can
even switch from one language to another—it’s as easy as pressing a
function key. Plus, the OMNI 395 can mix two languages on the same
display, presenting, for example, a line of English and one of Chinese.
By speaking the language of the user, the OMNI 395 speeds up
transactions, facilitates training and minimizes the need for technical
help. This easy-to-use feature is particularly helpful for businesses
where the workforce or clientele consists of people who speak
different languages.
Ready For Smart Card Applications
The OMNI 395 system supports VeriFone smart card reader/writ-
ers, giving you the ability to accept a variety of smart cards. On a
single piece of plastic, a smart card can combine multiple payment
applications, security functions and a portable marketing database.
The smart card can increase spending by offering cardholders added
convenience. And it can be used to gather information for frequent-
shopper and other programs that encourage customer loyalty.
Easy-To-Customize Applications

®
operating environment makes customizing appli-
cations easy because programmers can create and modify them using
industry-standard C language. Also, many of the functions most com-
mon to transaction processing are built into TXO, providing shortcuts
throughout the development process. And because TXO is supported
by all OMNI systems, applications designed for other terminals can be
migrated to the OMNI 395 with minor modifications.
Application downloads are easier, too. Through ZONTALK 2000
™
application management software, files can be downloaded over
phone lines to any remotely-located OMNI 395, without any extra
equipment required.

tions for check- and card-based transactions. But the OMNI 395 is
among the swiftest systems available. It comes standard with a high-
speed modem for faster transactions—resulting in lower communications
costs and quicker customer service.
And there’s more to the OMNI 395 than speed and efficiency.
There’s the flexibility to connect an extra peripheral through an addi-
tional port. This third port can be connected to an ECR, check reader,
smart card reader or another peripheral. Merchants can add equip-
ment now or wait until later—the option will always be available.
Plenty Of Room For Multiple Application Support
As applications get bigger and more complex, more random access
memory (RAM) is required. The OMNI is available in a variety of memory
configurations—from 128 Kbytes to 1 Mbyte of RAM. At 256 Kbytes, the
basic model has twice the capacity of most transaction systems.
Specially Designed For Ease Of Use
OMNI 395’s screen-addressable keys allow users to respond directly
to prompts shown on the terminal display. And its color-coded func-
tion keys simplify data entry, allowing functions previously requiring a
combination of keystrokes to be programmed into a single-step opera-
tion. As a result, checkout is quicker and customers are happier. And
with easy-to-identify keys, training time and errors are reduced.
The OMNI 395’s multi-line display can present up to four lines of
prompts, responses and messages. Questions or instructions can be
displayed on one line and remain there while the second line is used
to enter the response. What’s more, the backlit display can be read in
almost any light. And it’s tilted at a natural angle, making the user’s
job easier and less fatiguing.
