addressing by assigning its own
consistent private IP addresses.
This software offers a potential
solution to NAT issues, but it is
untested by Sierra Wireless, and
Sierra Wireless does not provide
support for it.
Solutions to the NAT problem
Ifyourservi ceproviderisusingNAT,itisbesttoworkwith
theproviderindevisingasolution.Someserviceproviders
offer,onrequest,accountswithpublicIPaddresses.(There
maybeadditionalchargesforthis.)
Anothersolutionistoimplementaframerelayconnection
betweenyournetworkandyourserviceprovidersnetwork.
Theframerelayconnectionbypassestheaddresstranslation,
andisamethodofovercomingNATissuesencouragedby
someserviceproviders.
Retrieve the Unique Mobile
Device ID
InordertoassociateGPSandI/Odatawithaparticular
vehicle,youmustcreateadatabaseonyourserverthatlinks
eachMPmodemsUniqueMobileDeviceIDtothevehiclein
whichitisinstalled.TheUniqueMobileDeviceIDisanumber
derivedfromtheESN(ElectronicSerial
Number).
UsetheATcommandATI4toobtaintheUniqueMobileDevice
IDfromeachMPmodemyoudeploy.

YoumayalsowanttoassignadevicenametotheMPmodem
thatidentifiesthevehicleinwhichitisinstalled.Youcan
assignthisnamelocallyusing3GWatcherorremotelyusing
MPModemManager.ThedevicenameisincludedintheMTP
datasenttothenetworkserver.
