Installation Instructions

INSTALLATION OF HORIZONTAL SHEET METAL ON BACK OF BUILDING (7) 12' PANELS
Additional panels are required for buildings taller than 7 1/2’ at the eave.
NOTE: The sheet metal on the back enclosure and front enclosure should be installed before the roof and
side panels if possible. If you are installing the sheet metal on a windy day or will not be completing the side
panel assembly on the same day, you should brace the back or front frames with diagonal braces to protect
the welds at the bottom of the frame from damage.
Step 1: Cutting panels 1 and 2
Cut 6 7/8” off the bottom side of two of the 12' panels. (The bottom side is the side with the overlap rib. See overlap
and under lap detail.) These will be panels 1 and 2.
Step 2: Installation of the first back panels
The panels to be installed on the back of the building are 12' long and will overlap in the center of the building 4' or 2'
on ether side of center. You may trim excess overlap if desired down to 12”.
Place panel 1 in the back lower left corner of the building flush on the end with the outside of the back left corner
post. The right end of the panel will overlap the center of the building by 2 feet. Now, install panel 2 over panel 1 with
the right end of panel 2 flush with the outside edge of the right corner post. Use a level to check the assembly for
level and fasten the panels to the frame with one screw 1" above and below each major rib on all vertical uprights.
Step 3: Installing panels 3 and 4
Panels 3 and 4 are full 12’ panels. Install panel 3 with the bottom (overlap) rib lapped over the top rib of panel 1 and
the left end of the panel flush with the left end of panel 1. Attach panel 1 to the corner post and the next post in with
self-drilling screws as you did the first panels. Do not Install screws in the center post at this time.
Install panel 4 in the same way over panel 2 flush on the right side of the building. With panel 4 in place install screws
in the center frame post.
Step 4: Installing panels 5 and 6
Put panel 5 in place over panel 3 as shown and mark the back side of the panel to match the building corner and
rafter. Do the same for panel 6.
Cut the straight lines with an abrasive disk or metal cutting blade in a circular saw (outside of panel down) or tin
snips. Use tin snips to cut the radius corners. Now, install panels 5 and 6 as you did the previous panels.
NOTE: You may also install panels 5, 6, and 7 to the frame and using the frame as a guide, trim off the sections of
the panels above the frame with a reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade.
Step 5: Installation of panel 7
Place panel 7 at the top center of the building as shown and mark the rafter and peak contour on the back of the
panel. Cut the straight lines with an circular saw or tin snips. Use tin snips to cut the peak radius. Place screws in
the center frame post and down the rafter on both sides of center.
If you did not buy a front enclosure skip to page 18 for installation of roof panels.
