When unpacking the components, verify that all the items you
ordered are included in the package. Accessories may be
shipped in a separate box.
After you unpack the components, you should inspect them
for damage.
If undamaged, consider saving the box and packing materials
in case you need to repackage the components for shipment.
For information about shipping equipment, see Appendix B
“Storage and Shipment” .
Inspecting the components for damage
After you unpack the components, examine the connectors,
ports, LEDs, and screen for damage. Be sure to check the top,
bottom, and front panels.
If you find damage, contact JDSU Customer Care at
1-866-228-3762 or at www.jdsu.com. For information about
returning equipment, see “Returning equipment to JDSU” on
page 127.
Inserting an SFP or XFP transceiver
The SFP ports allow you to insert SFP transceivers designed
for testing a variety of optical circuits. Additionally, the
T-BERD/MTS 5812 and 5812P configurations also offer an
XFP port, which allows you to insert a XFP transceiver to
establish connections to 10Gig circuits.
Before inserting an SFP or XFP, consider the following:
Applied power must not exceed the power level specified
on the panel for each optical connector.
