11MX Cables
This chapter describes the types of proprietary cables supplied with
Vicon MX to connect the system components. Vicon cables are used
to supply power to the system and to carry communications and
signals between the components.
Camera—Strobe Unit Connection Cable
A fixed cable terminated with a 6-pin Lemo plug carries power and
control from the camera to the strobe unit.
Caution
You are advised not to disconnect the camera-strobe connection cable while
the camera is active automatically. Doing so may cause the MX camera to
reset.
MX Bridge—V-Series Camera
A cable terminated on both ends with BNC plugs. This cable is used
to connect an MX Bridge to a Vicon MCam camera supported
previously by Vicon V-series systems.
A cable terminated on both ends with 12-pin Lemo plugs. This cable
is used to connect an MX Bridge to a Vicon MCam2, VCam, SVCam,
MCam(PAL) or MCam(NTSC) cameras supported previously by Vicon
V-series systems.
Warning
Do not use this 12-pin Lemo cable to connect an MX Bridge unit to either an
MX Net unit or an MX Link unit. Plugging one end of this 12-pin Lemo plug
into an Analog Camera socket on the rear panel of an MX-Bridge and the
other end of the plug into either the Link Connect socket on the rear panel
of an MX Link or the Link socket on the rear panel of an MX Net will result
in damage to the units.
MX Camera/MX Control/MX Bridge—MX Net Cable
A distribution cable terminated on both ends with 10-pin Lemo plugs.
This cable supplies power and synchronization signals from the
MX Net to an MX camera (or other connected device). The cable also
passes video signals (in Preview mode only) and data from the
MX camera back to the host PC via the MX Net and the MX Link (if
present).
