13.2 Opening the engine hood
Hold the engine hood (1) with one hand at
the handle (2) and open by pulling gently
upwards.
Fold the engine hood (1) forwards to the
stop.
13.3 Closing the engine hood
Close the engine hood (1) and allow to
engage.
13.4 Lubrication
Lubricate the two front steering knuckles
via the two grease nipples on the front
axle.
Lubricating
Stop the engine. (Ö 11.3)
Remove the ignition key and keep it in a
safe place.
Engage the parking brake. (Ö 8.11)
Unload the front axle by supporting
(lifting) it.
Using a grease gun (not included in
standard equipment), inject grease on
both sides via the grease nipples (1) until
small amounts of grease escape from the
steering knuckles.
Remove escaping lubricating grease.
Remove support for front axle.
Note
During the inspection by the
specialist dealer, the braking
function is checked and, if
necessary, the brakes are serviced.
Furthermore, all required
maintenance operations on the
gearbox are carried out.
Risk of injury:
Switch off the engine and allow it to
cool down for a few minutes before
opening the engine hood.
The engine should be warm to the
touch.
Close the engine cover carefully
and slowly. Ensure that the engine
hood engages.
Note
Before lubricating, the front axle
must be unloaded by supporting
appropriately.
The grease nipple must be cleaned
before lubricating, so that no dirt
enters the steering knuckle.
Escaping grease should always be
removed (wiped off) after
lubricating.
Use commercially available
lubricating grease.
Note
The grease nipple on the right front
wheel is located on the front of the
steering knuckle.
The grease nipple on the left front
wheel is located on the rear of the
steering knuckle.
