13.6 Mowing blade maintenance
Maintenance interval:
Every 25 operating hours
Maintenance operations:
Check the mowing blade wear limits.
Sharpen the mowing blades if
necessary.
If mowing results deteriorate, the
mowing blades should be sharpened.
Checking the mowing blade wear
limits:
Carefully clean the mowing deck and
mowing blades. (Ö 13.17)
Remove the mowing deck. (Ö 12.1)
Risk of injury:
The safety devices must only be
checked from the driver's seat.
No persons, particularly children or
animals must be in the vicinity.
Proper functioning of the safety
devices must be checked at least
once a month.
Following longer periods without
use, for low-use machines or after
repairs, always check all safety
devices before using again.
Risk of injury:
Always wear gloves. If you do not
have the necessary expertise or
auxiliary equipment, please always
contact a specialist dealer. (VIKING
recommends VIKING specialist
dealers).
VIKING recommends the use of
original VIKING spare parts.
Never touch the mowing blades
before they have come to a
standstill.
Always set down the mowing deck
on a non-slip surface.
Risk of injury:
A worn mowing blade may break off
and cause serious injuries. The
instructions for blade maintenance
must therefore always be observed.
Mowing blades are subjected to
differing degrees of wear
depending on the location and
duration of use. If you use the
machine on sandy ground or use it
frequently under dry conditions, the
mowing blade will be subjected to
greater loads and will wear more
quickly than normal.
Caution:
Alwaysreplace the blade
fastening screw and the retaining
washer when replacing the mowing
blade.
VIKING recommends removing the
mowing deck if the wear limits need
to be checked.
If a suitable lifting platform is
available, the mowing blade wear
limits can also be checked with the
mowing deck installed.
