Using the pedestal
Parking brake
The pedestal base is provided with a parking brake (24) on one wheel. The brake is not designed to slow the
pedestal while in motion.
The brake is operated by rotating the slider (24) anticlockwise, and released by rotating clockwise.
Using the column lock
The column lock (27) locks the column in the fully-depressed position.
To release the column lock, push down on the steering ring (29) against residual pressure and rotate the col-
umn lock catch (27) downward into the ‘off’ position.
To engage the column lock, rotate the column lock catch (27) upward into the vertical position. Fully depress
the column (4) until the lock engages.
WARNING! Do not apply the brake while the pedestal is in motion. The pedestal may
become unstable and the brake may be damaged.
CAUTION! Do not release the column lock (27) if the pedestal pressure is below 3.5 bar (50 psi).
This ensures that the elevating mechanism remains in tension, preventing damage to
the pedestal.
WARNING! 1. Do NOT release the column lock (27) if the pedestal pressure exceeds 7.2
bar (105 psi) without a balancing load installed. Reduce as necessary,
using the Schrader valve cap (1).
2. Do NOT lean over the pedestal. An over pressurized pedestal may rise
rapidly when the column lock (27) is released, causing personal injury.
