Conveyor Travel
The conveyor must travel in a straight line. If the conveyor motion is not straight, each line in the
sensor will scan a different area of the object as shown in Figure 57. This situation will cause
haloing that is perpendicular to the transport direction. The halos will vary in size and color.

Object Height Differences
If the objects on the conveyor strongly differ in height, the lines in the sensor will view a short object
from a different perspective than they view a tall object. To make sure that all objects are in
perspective even if they strongly differ in height, use of a telecentric lens setup is recommended. A
telecentric setup usually requires high illumination.
If the objects strongly differ in height and a telecentric setup is not used, haloing will be seen in the
areas where sharp height gradients are present.
