Cat 5 wiring (also known as structured cabling) is increasingly being used as an alternative to standard wiring, the main reason is that many commercial buildings have spare

Cat 5 cables running through the building and the majority of new buildings have Cat 5 run throughout the building. Cat 5 wiring uses convertors in place of connectors at the

ends of the Cat 5 Cable, these convertors convert picture, power, audio and RS485 data to a format which can be carried by Cat 5 cable and then convert them back again. Cat

5 wiring can be run up to a maximum of 1500 metres.We recommend this type of wiring in situations where Cat 5 cable is already run or where there is a need for very long

or versatile cable runs and for future proofing.

single twisted pair of a CAT 5 cable, it can then be

converted back at the viewing end by using another C5V
