VNPR SITE SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE
This document is to assist in producing a quote for a Vista Number Plate Recognition System by first explaining how to
fill in the questionnaire and the questionnaire itself.
The guide is in three parts:
Lane Information
System Information
Survey Form
A site visit is essential to ensure that the correct location for the cameras is found and pointed out to the customers.
Ensure vehicles as far as possible approach the cameras with the plate head on to the camera. Also ensure that no
obstacles are in the line of sight i.e. parking for vehicles, skirts on barriers etc.
LANE INFORMATION
The Lane information is to be completed for each lane to be monitored.
Will the site be monitored 24 7?
What is the preferred mounting for the VNPR camera?
What is the maximum speed of the vehicles? If barriers are used ask if the barriers are ever opened at busy times?
Make sure you are not just given the speed limit of the area.
Type of lane i.e. Entry lane / Exit lane.
Traffic flow i.e. is the traffic free flowing or tailgating?
Is an overview camera required for this lane? If so what is it to display?
Does the VNPR system on the lane have to interface to a third party device i.e. weighbridge, under vehicle
scanning? If so please provide make, model and technical contact for the product with a brief overview of the
required integration.
Is the VNPR on this lane to be triggered i.e. to capture vehicles with no number plates or silver on black plates?
SYSTEM INFORMATION
How many lanes in total are there?
How many vehicles are there per day?
How long are the images to be stored?
Is this to interface with the police? Via a BOF2 interface (Back Office) or will the police provide a CD hotlist?
Is the system to alarm? Via audible alarm, e-mail, SMS or Pop up box at an IP address?
Is the system to count vehicles in a car park & allow different access to different groups?
Is there any requirements not covered by the standard software?
Where is the system to be controlled from, and what do they want to do at each of these points?
