2) Open the cassette load door and remove the cassette from the boat.
Note: The boat itself should not be removed.
3) Close the cassette load door.
CAUTION: Leaving the door to the Cassette Unload station open
will interfere with the proper processing of the test cards in the
VITEK
®
2 instrument.
4) Dispose of the materials in the cassette. The cassette can now be used
to process additional test cards.
Removing Ejected Test Cards
When a test card is ejected, it is removed from the carousel in the Card
Reader and Incubator Station, and placed in the Waste Collection Station
(see Figure 6-18). This station has a capacity of 60 test cards, equivalent to
the capacity of the carousel. However, it is recommend that you check and
empty the Waste Collection Station every time you load a new cassette.
Note: Once cards have been removed from the Waste Collection Station, never
reinsert them. This will cause the instrument to jam.
BIOHAZARD WARNING
All of the materials in an empty cassette should be treated as
biohazards and disposed of accordingly. All organism
suspensions should be considered as potentially infectious.
Qualified laboratory personnel should use acceptable
procedures for biohazardous material.
