Cleaning Optics (Cards Processing) Troubleshooting the VITEK
®
2 Instrument
CAUTION: Do not use commercial glass cleaner when cleaning
the optics. This may result in calibration failures observed as the
optics age. Clean optics using a quality, lint free lens paper that
has been slightly moistened with alcohol.
1) Access the Optics Cleaning function using the path:
Main Menu > Utilities > Maintenance > Cleaning > Optics Cleaning
If cards are processing, the following message appears:
Cards are currently processing. Do you wish to
continue?

2 XL Only) Select a Reader.
3) Press Yes to continue.
The screen briefly displays the message:
Preparing for Optics Cleaning.
You have five minutes from the time that you press Yes to complete the
cleaning procedure. Test card processing automatically resumes after
that time.
It then displays the following message:
Clean the optics.
4) Open the Waste Collection Station door and remove the test card
collection tray. Dispose of any test cards in the tray.
5) Lift the top access door of the instrument.
This exposes the transmittance (1, Figure 8-15) optics.
This provides easier access to the optics and also an opportunity to
clean this component.
