Using Error Message and Recovery Table Troubleshooting the VITEK

Processing
Warning (Cont.)
Cannot unload cards,
waste tray is not functional
1) Open the Waste Collection Station door and check for jams.
2) Empty the waste collection tray. (See page 6-30).
3) Call bioMérieux for assistance if the problem recurs.
Waste tray cannot hold the
number of cards currently
in the Carousel
Empty the test card waste collection tray. (See procedure on
page 6-30; see also Waste Tray Warning Level on page 5-8.)
No cards found 1) Unload the cassette from the instrument.
2) Check that the cassette contains a card.
3) Reload the cassette into the instrument.
Cassette Loading door is
open
Close the Cassette Load door. If the error recurs, call bioMérieux
for assistance.
Saline has been in use
longer than the
recommended time
The saline has been in the instrument longer than the specified
time. Replace the saline bag. (See procedure on page 7-4.)
Saline Level Low Replace the saline bag. (See procedure on page 7-4.)
Tip Level Low See procedure on Disposables Errors on page 8-17.
Tips have been in use
longer than the
recommended time
The pipette tips have been in the instrument longer than the
specified time. Install a new Accessory Kit. (See procedure on
page 7-8.)
Incubator cover is off Open the top-right access door and replace or reseat the
incubator cover. (Refer to Step 9 of the procedure on page 7-18.)
Incubator Temperature
HIGH
Ensure that the ambient room temperature is below 30 °C. Wait
15 minutes and recheck. If the incubator temperature has not
returned to normal, call bioMérieux for assistance.
Test cards that are still processing in the carousel will be
terminated after this error occurs. A laboratory report will be
printed with the message:
CARD TERMINATED: Insufficient incubation time
for analysis.
For AST cards, any antibiotics that were finalized prior to the error
will be reported.
