Introduction Thank you for purchasing this camera. Everything you need to take quality digital photos and videos is included with your camera. Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible. Note: Your camera needs an SD Memory card (up to 16GB) for normal use. SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately. Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital video camera. What Your Camera Includes 1. Initial Camera Setup Installing the Batteries Installing the Memory Card Insert SD Memory card (up to 16GB) before use.
When powering the camera ON for the first time the camera will take you through the initial camera setup. Powering the Digital Video Camera ON 1) Batteries Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital video camera. Slide the battery cover on the back of the camera in a downward direction to open the cover. Insert 2 x AA (1.5v) batteries (not included) with the correct polarity, according to the polarity illustrated inside the battery compartment.
3) Power On Press the POWER button to turn on the camera. Setting the Camera Language 1) You will first be prompted to select a language for the camera. The Language selection menu will appear. Select the language of your choice and press the Shutter/OK button to confirm the selection. 2) After selecting a language, you will be asked if you would like to continue with the initial camera setup. A message will appear: “Continue with Camera Setup?” Select “Yes” to continue or “No” to exit the setup.
Main Camera Modes Your digital video camera has different modes for the various camera functions. You can switch modes by pressing the MODE button on your digital video camera after the camera has been powered ON. Video Capture Mode Use this mode to capture videos with your digital video camera. This is the default mode when the camera is powered ON. To take a video, aim your camera as desired and press the Shutter button to start the record.

Powering ON/OFF Your Digital Video Camera Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital video camera. If your camera comes with a rechargeable lithium battery, make sure it is fully charged before the first use. Make sure an SD card has been inserted into your camera. (SD card up to 16GB - SD Card not included) Powering the camera ON Press the Power button to turn your camera ON. The camera will be in Video Capture mode to start.
Changing Camera Mode Your camera has three main modes: 1) Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your camera. 2) Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your camera. 3) Playback Mode (for photos and videos) - Use this mode to view the photos and videos you have already taken with your camera. When the camera is first powered ON, the Video Capture Mode will be active.
Navigating the Menus Each camera mode has a set of menus specific to that mode. 1) Press the MENU button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll between the various menus for the current mode. 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to highlight the desired menu selection. 4) Press the Shutter/OK button to confirm and select the highlighted menu option.
Video Capture Mode The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital video camera. When the camera is first powered ON, the camera will display by default. Taking a Video 1) While in Video Capture Mode use the LCD display to direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture. 2) Click the UP - Zoom In and Down - Zoom Out buttons to better set the camera display if desired. 3) Press the Shutter button to start the video capture.
Video Capture Mode Quick Function Buttons Your digital video camera has a four-directional pad and additional buttons that functions as Quick Function buttons. Button Function LEFT - UP Zooms in RIGHT - DOWN Zooms out Other Shutter/OK Starts and stops your video capture Delete Allows you to delete last video taken by opening the „Delete‟ options Opens the Video Menu options MENU Note: To navigate through the Menus, use the Left, Up, Right, and Down directions control buttons.
Deleting Images with the Delete Button You can delete videos from your digital video camera by pressing the Delete button. You can choose to either delete the selected video or to delete all images. Delete This Video: 1) Select the image you wish to delete. 2) Press the Delete button until the „Delete‟ menu appears. 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to highlight the „Delete this Video‟ option, and then press the Shutter/OK button confirm and continue.
Image Resolution Menu The Image Resolution menu allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a larger size will also take up more of your camera‟s memory. 1) Press the MENU button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the Image Resolution menu. 3) Press the UP or DOWN direction control buttons to scroll through the menu options.
Video Playback Mode The Playback mode allows you to review photos and videos that you‟ve already taken with your digital video camera. When you first turn on the camera, the camera will be in Video Capture mode by default. Press the MODE button twice to open the Playback Mode. The Playback screen appears with the Playback icon appearing on the top left corner of the screen.

Thumbnail View Easily navigate and select the image you wish to view by using the Thumbnail View. The images on your camera will be displayed in a 3 X 3 matrix where you can use the direction buttons to scroll and select images from the thumbnails. 1) Press the DOWN button for the images to appear in Thumbnail View. 2) Use the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT direction control buttons to navigate the thumbnails and select the image you wish to view. Videos appear with a „V‟ icon.
Video Playback Mode Menu The following is the menu that appears in your digital video camera‟s Video Playback Mode: Delete Menu While in the Playback mode, you can delete videos from your camera through the Delete menu. Remember, you can also quickly access the Delete menu by pressing the Delete button. Delete This Video: 1) Select the image you wish to delete. 2) Press the MENU button to open the „Delete‟ menu.
Photo Capture Mode The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital video camera. When the camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Video Capture Mode by default. Press the MODE button once to enter the Photo Capture mode. Taking a Picture 1) Turn on your digital video camera. 2) Press the MODE button once to open the Photo Capture Mode. 3) While in Photo Capture mode, use the LCD display to direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture.

Photo Capture Mode Menus The following are the menus that appear in your digital video camera‟s Photo Capture Mode: Image Resolution Menu The Image Resolution menu allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher resolution will also take up more of your camera‟s memory. 1) Press the MENU button to open the menus for the current mode. 2) Press the LEFT or RIGHT direction control buttons to scroll and select the Image Resolution menu.
Photo Playback Mode The Playback mode allows you to review photos and videos that you‟ve already taken with your digital video camera. When you first turn on the digital video camera, the camera will be in Video Capture mode by default. Press the MODE button twice to open the Playback Mode. The Playback screen appears with the Playback icon appearing on the top left corner of the screen.
Photo Playback Mode Quick Function Buttons Your digital video camera has a four-directional pad and additional buttons that functions as Quick Function buttons. Button Function - Displays the PREVIOUS image. LEFT - Scrolls through your Thumbnail images. - Zooms In to your selected Thumbnail image. UP - Scrolls through your Thumbnail images. - Displays the NEXT image. RIGHT - Scrolls through your Thumbnail images. - Opens the Thumbnail display. DOWN - Scrolls through your Thumbnail display images.
Thumbnail View Easily navigate and select the image you wish to view by using the Thumbnail View. The images on your camera will be displayed in a 3 X 3 matrix where you can use the direction buttons to scroll and select images from the thumbnails. 1) Press the DOWN button for the images to appear in Thumbnail View. 2) Use the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT direction control buttons to navigate the thumbnails and select the image you wish to view.
Photo Playback Mode Menu The following is the menu that appears in your digital video camera‟s Photo Playback Mode: Delete Menu While in the Playback mode, you can delete photos from your camera through the Delete menu. Remember, you can also quickly access the Delete menu by pressing the Delete button. Delete This Photo: 1) Select the image you wish to delete. 2) Press the MENU button to open the „Delete‟ menu.
Connecting the Digital Video Camera to a TV Your digital video camera has an AV port to use your larger TV screen in place of the camera‟s LCD screen. On plugging the TV Cable (supplied) to the the camera‟s AV slot and to the TV, the LCD screen turns blank. Use the camera as you would to capture and playback photos and videos. The images will appear on the TV instead of on the LCD screen. Note: The only limitation of using the TV screen is that the camera is now not portable.
Installing the Software You must be connected to the internet to install and run the Vivitar Experience Image Manager software. 1) Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation screen should automatically open. 2) On PC: The Vivitar Experience Image Manager Installer window appears. If the window does not appear, open the application‟s CD/DVD drive and click on “Setup.exe” to launch the installer.
5) If you have internet access, the “Choose your language” window opens, choose your language and click “Next” to open the next window. 6) Select your camera model from the list and click “Next” to open the next window. 7) Click “Next” to confirm your camera model selection and to install the application. 8) Please wait while the application is being installed on your computer. 9) Please review the license terms.
Getting Photos and Videos from your Camera to Your Computer NOTE: An SD card needs to be inserted. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer. 1) Select the “Get Images” button from the Main menu. 2) The “Get Images from device” window opens. 3) You can select to download photos, videos or both. 4) Select your camera (removable disk) from the device window.
9) A media download progress bar appears on the bottom left showing the number of media files downloading to your computer. A message appears when the download is complete. 10) The photo and video files that you selected are now downloaded to your computer to the selected folder and albums ready for your use.
Transferring Images from my Camera to my Computer Manually WINDOWS 1) Slide the lever on the side of the camera to reveal the built-in USB connector. Use the USB built-in connector on your camera to connect your camera to the USB port on your computer. 2) “MSDC” appears on the LCD – indicating that your camera is in Mass Storage Mode. 3) A window appears with a list of options, select “Open folder to view files” and click OK. 4) Open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files.
Camera Maintenance The digital video camera is a delicate device. Please handle your camera with care to avoid damaging it. Do not expose your digital video camera to heat sources.
