1 Installing the TV Inspecting the Package Contents Installing the TV Before installing your new TV, take a moment to inspect the package contents. Use the images below to ensure nothing is missing or damaged. After removing the TV from the box and inspecting the package contents you can begin installing the TV. Your TV can be installed in two ways: When you have completed your inspection, install the TV.
1 E470VLE 3. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, attach the base to the TV by inserting and tightening the included screws. Be sure the mount you choose is capable of supporting the weight of the TV. After you have determined that you have the correct mount for your TV, you can begin the installation. To install your TV on a wall: 1. Disconnect any cables connected to your TV. 4. Move the TV with attached stand into an upright position and place on a flat, level, and stable surface. 2.

PC Audio In Cable/Antenna RGB PC Composite AV Composite AV: Connect composite video/audio device. Cable/Antenna: Connect RF/Coaxial connector from cable, antenna, or satellite box. Optical Audio Out: Connect SPDIF/Optical audio cable. RCA Audio Out: Connect RCA audio device (soundbar, home theater, etc). Optical Audio Out Component: Connect component video/audio device.

USB Left Side Panel Power: Turn the TV on. Press and hold for 3 seconds to turn off. Menu: Display on-screen menu. Channel Up/Down: Change the channel. Volume Up/Down: Increase or decrease the loudness of the TVs audio. Input: Change the input device.

Power/Standby A/V Controls A/V Controls: Control external device (Blu-Ray or DVD player). Menu: Display the on-screen menu. Exit: Close the on-screen menu. Arrow: Navigate the on-screen menu and episode guide. Exit OK Menu Arrow Back Guide Mute Channel Up/Down Guide: Display the episode guide (digital channels only).

3 Connecting Your Devices Connecting Your Devices Your HDTV can be easily connected to an external device: • DVD or Blu-Ray player • Video game console • Cable box • External antenna • Or other device Once you have determined the best available connection type on both your device and the TV, ensure you have the corresponding cable. To connect a device to the TV: 1. Ensure both the TV and your device are off. 2. Connect the device and the TV. Use the best available connection.

4 Completing the First-Time Setup The first time you turn on the TV, the Setup App will guide you through each of the steps necessary to get your TV ready for use. Before you begin the first-time setup: • Your TV should be installed and the power cord should be connected to an electrical outlet. See Installing the TV on page 1. • Your devices should be connected. See Connecting Your Devices on page 7. To complete the first-time setup: 1. Press the Power/Standby button on the remote.
5 Using the On-Screen Menu Your TV features an easy-to-use on-screen menu. To open the on-screen menu, press the MENU button on the remote.
5 E470VLE Setting the Screen Aspect Ratio The TV can display images in five different modes: Normal, Wide, Zoom, Panoramic, and Stretch. Each mode displays content according to the content’s original format. Original Content Format 480p/480i (4:3) 720p (16:9) Use the table below to determine the best aspect ratio for your content type. Areas in red will not be visible on your TV screen.
5 E470VLE Changing the Screen Aspect Ratio The TV can display images in four different modes: Normal, Wide, Zoom, and Panoramic. Each mode displays the picture differently. To change the screen aspect ratio: Setting Up Closed Captioning Your TV can display closed captions for programs that include them. Closed captions display a transcription of a program’s dialogue. If the program you are viewing is not being broadcast with closed captions, the TV will not display them. 1.
5 E470VLE Changing the Appearance of Digital Closed Captions Activating the Sleep Timer Digital closed captions can be displayed according to your preference. To change the appearance of digital closed captions: 1. From the Closed Caption menu, use the Arrow buttons to highlight Digital CC Style. When activated, the TV’s sleep timer will turn the TV off after a set period of time. To use the sleep timer: 1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed. 2.

The on-screen menu is displayed. 2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the TV Settings icon and press OK. The TV Settings menu is displayed. 3. Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Picture and press OK. The Picture Settings menu is displayed. 4.
5 E470VLE Adjusting the Advanced Picture Settings Adjusting the Color Temperature To adjust the advanced picture settings: Adjusting the color temperature will change the “warmness” or “coolness” of the white areas of the picture. 1. From the Picture Settings menu, use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight More, then press OK. 2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Advanced Picture, then press OK. The Advanced Picture menu is displayed. 3.
5 E470VLE Adjusting the Picture Size and Position Adjusting the Audio Settings When displaying an image from the HDMI or RGB input, the size and position of the display image can be adjusted. To adjust the audio settings: To adjust the picture size and position: 1. Ensure the input is set to HDMI or RGB. 2. From the Picture Settings menu, use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight More, then press OK. 3. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Size & Position, then press OK.

5 E470VLE Adding New Channels Skipping Channels Occasionally, you may need to add a new analog channel or add a new range of channels. You can do this by using the Partial Channel Search and Add Analog Channel options. After a channel scan is completed, you may find that some channels are too weak to watch comfortably. There may also be some channels you do not want to view. You can remove these channels from the TV’s memory with the Skip Channel feature. To add a range of new channels: 1.
5 E470VLE Changing the Audio Language Using the Parental Controls Some digital free-to-air and cable channels broadcast programs in more than one language. The TV’s MTS (Multichannel Television Sound) feature allows you to listen to audio in your preferred language. The TV’s parental controls allow you to prevent the TV from displaying certain channels or programs without a password. Not all programs are broadcast in multiple languages.
5 E470VLE Enabling or Disabling Program Ratings Blocking and Unblocking Content by Rating To manage program content according to its rating, you must enable the Program Rating feature. To enable or disable the Program Rating feature: A channel may sometimes broadcast programs that are meant for children, and at other times broadcast programs that are meant for mature audiences.
5 E470VLE Changing the Parental Control Passcode Changing the Names of the Inputs If you use the parental controls, you should change the passcode to prevent children from accessing inappropriate material. To make it easier to recognize the different devices attached to the inputs on your TV, you can rename the inputs. For example, if you have a DVD player connected to the Component input, you can rename that input to display “DVD Player”. 1.

To ensure the correct time is displayed when you press the INFO button, set the TV’s time zone: To change the on-screen menu language: 1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed. 2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the Settings icon and press OK. The Settings menu is displayed. 3.
5 E470VLE Adjusting the CEC Settings Using the Help Menu The CEC function on your TV enables you to control HDMI-connected devices with the included remote without any additional programming. You can use the TV’s Help menu to: Not all HDMI devices support CEC. See your device’s user manual for details. To enable, disable, or adjust CEC settings: 1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed. 2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the Settings icon and press OK.
5 E470VLE Restoring the TV to Factory Default Settings Using Guided Setup All of the on-screen menu settings can be reset to the factory defaults. The TV’s Setup App can be used to easily set up the TV tuner or to connect the TV with your network. If you restore the TV to the factory default settings, all changes you have made to the settings will be lost! To access guided setup: 1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed.
5 E470VLE Using the Digital Episode Guide Using the Info Window The Info Window can be displayed by pressing the INFO button on the remote: Your TV features an on-screen digital episode guide. This guide displays program information broadcast by over-the-air digital television stations as well as the current time and date. To use the digital episode guide, press the GUIDE button on the remote. While viewing the digital episode guide, use the Left/Right Arrow buttons to change the channel.
6 Using the USB Photo Viewer The USB Media Player allows you to connect a USB thumb drive to your TV and view photos. Viewing Photos To view USB photos on the TV, you must first save your images onto a USB thumb drive. Remember: • The USB thumb drive must be formatted as FAT32. • Photos must be saved to the thumb drive in .jpg format. • The player is not designed to play media from external hard drives or mp3 players. To play your USB media: 1.
6 E470VLE Adjusting the Photo Viewer Settings The photo viewer can be adjusted according to your preferences. To adjust the photo viewer settings: 1. While the photo viewer is on screen, press the MENU button. The settings menu is displayed. 2. Highlight the menu setting you wish to adjust and press OK. • Slideshow Mode - Determines the order in which your photos are displayed during the slideshow. Select Single, Shuffle, or Sequence.
6 E470VLE Selected Photo The currently selected photo is highlighted by a blue frame. Current File Displays the currently selected photo file name. Counter Displays the currently selected photo number. (ex. Number 1 of 12.) Shortcut Reminders Use these remote buttons to navigate the Photo Viewer.

When I change input source, the display image changes size. • The TV remembers the viewing mode on each input source.
