n
If you use Microsoft RDP 7, the maximum number of monitors that you can use to display a remote
desktop is 16.
n
If you use Microsoft RDP display protocol, you must have Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection
(RDC) 6.0 or higher installed in the remote desktop.
Using One Monitor in a Multiple-Monitor Setup
If you have multiple monitors but want Horizon Client to use only one of them, after client installation, you
can select to have a desktop window launch in any mode other than All Monitors. By default, the window is
launched on the primary monitor.
You can drag the desktop window to a non-primary monitor, and the next time you launch the desktop, the
desktop window will be displayed on that same monitor. This preference for remembering the last monitor
used has the following limitations:
n
For the display mode, you must choose to launch the window in one of the windowed modes (such as
Large, Small, or Custom) rather than in Fullscreen or All Monitors mode.
n
You must use the Blast Extreme display protocol or the PCoIP display protocol.
n
The window is launched and centered in the monitor and uses the window size you selected for the
display mode, not a size that you might have created by dragging the window to resize it.
n
This preference is not supported for remote (hosted) applications.
This preference is remembered on a per-desktop basis.
Using Display Scaling
A user who has a high resolution screen such as a 4K monotor or has poor eyesight generally has scaling
enabled by setting DPI to greater than 100% on the client machine. With the Display Scaling feature, the
Horizon remote desktop or application supports the scaling setting and the remote desktop or application
appears normal-sized instead of very small. When you use the VMware Blast Extreme or the PCoIP display
protocol, Horizon Client also supports display scaling in remote desktops and applications for clients that
have DPI set to greater than 100%. After you connect to a remote desktop, you can choose the Options >
Enable Display Scaling menu item. Alternatively, in the Settings window for a remote application or
desktop, you can select the Enable Display Scaling check box. For remote desktops, this setting is saved
separately for each desktop. For remote applications, this setting applies to all remote applications that are
available to the currently logged-in user. For non-Windows 10 clients, this option appears only if DPI is set
to greater than 100%. For Windows 10 clients, this option appears if DPI is set to greater than 100% for the
primary monitor.
Using display scaling does not affect the number of monitors and the maximum resolutions that are
supported.
Change the Display Mode While a Desktop Window Is Open
You can change display modes, such as from All Monitors mode to Fullscreen mode, without having to
disconnect from the desktop.
This ability to change the display mode while the desktop window is open is supported for desktop
windows only and not for remote (hosted) applications.
Prerequisites
n
You must be using the VMware Blast Extreme or the PCoIP display protocol.
