The fuel injection system
The fuel pump, which is located in the fuel tank,
pumps fuel through the fuel filter to the injectors.
The injectors are connected to each other by the
fuel rail. Injection occurs sequentially. Using the
input signals, the control unit calculates the
necessary fuel quantity and the required injec-
tion period.
The quantity of fuel injected is determined solely
by the length of the period during which the
injector is open. The pressure regulator regulates
the injection pressure in the fuel rail and regula-
tes the return flow of excess fuel to the fuel tank.
