Product description
The cable tester CT-5 is especially developed for the in place testing
of connection and network cables. For this reason the device has a
RJ 11, RJ 45, IEEE 1394 and USB jack at the front side. Additional-
ly you can test coaxial network cables by means of the BNC jack.
By means of the light display, line run through, line interruptions,
short circuit, ground connection as well as line end (Termination)
and crossed cores are shown. In the case of short connection
cables it is sometimes not necessary to disconnect the Remote Ter-
minator from the cable tester. For the testing of already Fix installed
lines or for the function test of the measuring device Via the includ-
ed testing cables you can disconnect the Remote Terminator from
the cable tester and connect it to the other end Of the testing cable.
The switching of the individual cores within the cable (scanning) is
done automatically by the push of a button and is acoustically sup-
ported by signal sounds.

When testing USB-, IEEE 1394 (FIREWIRE) or RJ 11- Cables pro-
ceed in the same way as fort he testing of RJ 45 cables. But when
testing cables with RJ11 plug connection you should check if it is a
4 core (6P/4C) or a 6 core (6P/6C) connection line by means of a
visual inspection in the fore field of the measurement. Please use
the included end resistance instead of the Remote terminator when
testing cables with BNC-plugs.
Maintenance and care
Except of a battery change from time to time, the cable tester is is
maintenance free. You can find information on the battery change
in the respective chapters of the operation manual. On the outside,
the cable tester should only be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth or
brush. Under no circumstances use aggressive detergents or chem-
ical solvents, because the surfaces of the housings could be dam-
aged. Furthermore the fumes are explosive and hazardous to
health.

house waste is prohibited!
Batteries/accumulators which contain pollutants
are signed With the symbols you see on the side,
Which display the prohibition of the disposal into
the normal house waste. The terms fort he decisi-
