9. MEASURING
To receive precise measured values, the infrared thermometer must be adjusted to the ambience temperature. Let
the device adjust to the new ambience temperature after a site change.
Longer IR measurements of high temperatures at low measuring distances lead to heating of the meters and thus to
wrong measurements. For precise measured values: The higher the temperature, the larger should the measuring
distance and the shorter the measuring duration be.
Glossy surfaces will falsify the measuring result in the IR measurement. To compensate, the surface of glossy parts
can be covered with adhesive tape or matte-black paint. The devices cannot measure through transparent surfaces,
such as glass. Instead, it will measure the surface temperature of the glass.
