276 Fifth Wheel Instructions
Disconnect the light cord and air brake
lines. Use the dummy air couplings to keep
foreign material from entering the brake
lines.
Unlock the fifth wheel.
NOTE! If the operating rod is too difficult
to pull, back the tractor up slightly to re-
lieve any kingpin load against the fifth
wheel jaw.

Release the tractor park brakes and pull the
tractor away from the kingpin about
12 in. (300 mm) and STOP. Do not allow
the fifth wheel to leave the underside of the
trailer.

Select the “UNCOUPLE” position (push
down the latch and press in the bottom part
of the switch) on the suspension control
switch to deflate the air springs.
