Reticle Focusing The Vortex Crossfire 3x32 Crossbow scope uses an adjustable eyepiece to get a clear and sharp reticle image. Set the reticle focus this way: The Vortex 3x32 Crossbow Scope D A E F B C A. Eyepiece B. Eyepiece Lock Ring C. Windage Adjustment Knob 1. Loosen the ridged lock ring in front of the eyepiece. 2. Look through the scope at a blank white wall or up at the sky. 3. Turn the eyepiece in or out until the reticle image is as crisp as you can get it.
Windage and Elevation Adjustment The Vortex 3x32 Crossbow scope uses finger-adjustable elevation and windage knobs. To make an adjustment in the point of impact, turn the adjustment knob in the appropriate direction as indicated by the Up/Down, Left/Right arrows— moving in the direction you wish the point of impact changed. For example, if the bolts are striking right of center, move the point-of-impact to the left.
Illumination Adjustment Mounting the Crossbow The Vortex 3x32 Crossbow scope uses a variable reticle illumination system for additional reticle brightness when needed—select between five different intensity levels for the desired brightness. Colored indicators guide the shooter in choosing between red or green illumination, depending on preference. To activate the illumination, rotate the left side adjustment knob in either direction off the zero setting.
The Crossbow Reticle The Vortex Crossbow reticle is specifically designed to work with modern crossbows shooting a 400 gr. bolt at approximately 300 fps. Yardages for the Crossfire Crossbow Reticle Once the center crosshair is zeroed to 20 yards, the first line down provides an accurate 30-yard reference, the second line down works for a 40-yard distance, and the bottom line provides a reference for targets at a 50-yard distance.
Sight In and Shooting With a safe backstop, begin sighting in the Crossbow scope at a distance of ten yards. Using the central crosshair wire, shoot one bolt and observe where it hits. Use the Crossbow scope’s adjustment turrets to move the point-of-impact to the desired amount as described in the Windage and Elevation Adjustment section. If your crossbow has an adjustable base, use it for the initial windage and elevation corrections.
Maintenance The Crossfire Crossbow reticle will still be effective with other velocities and bolt weights. Use the same 20 yard sightin distance for the main crosshair. You will find that the subcrosshair lines will be accurate for distances other than 30, 40 and 50 yards. Spending a day at the target range will allow you to determine which distances are appropriate for your particular crossbow setup. Examples Velocity faster than 300 fps Yardages will be slightly greater than 30, 40 and 50 yards.
