Dear Parent, At VTech® we know that a child’s imagination is a truly wonderful thing and needs to be developed and nurtured. That’s why we created the Thomas & Friends™ learning series of interactive learning toys to stimulate children’s imaginations, while also teaching vital preschool concepts such as the letters, numbers, phonics, counting, vocabulary and music.
INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Thomas & FriendsTM Busy Books! THOMASTM MUSIC BUTTON WHISTLE BUTTON MODE SELECTOR SWITCH ON/OFF BUTTON THOMASTM POINTER TEN CHARACTER BUTTONS Introduction With one touch, your child becomes part of an interactive story! The Thomas & FriendsTM Busy Books include three interchangeable stories and a ThomasTM pointer. On each page, your child will discover touchsensitive words and colorful pictures.
INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE • One VTech® Thomas & FriendsTM Busy Books learning toy • Three activity books - Explore Colors & Shapes, Word Journey, Sound World. • One instruction manual All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety. GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit. Use a coin or screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3.
Always remove exhausted batteries from the equipment. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are to be used. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. PRODUCT FEATURES 1. ON/OFF BUTTON To turn the unit ON, press the ON/OFF BUTTON . To turn the unit OFF, press the ON/OFF BUTTON again. 2.
4. WHISTLE BUTTON 5. ACTIVITY BOOK STORAGE For convenience, a storage compartment for all three activity books is located at the back of the product. 6. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF To preserve battery life, the Thomas & FriendsTM Busy Books will automatically power-down after approximately three minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the on/off button. ACTIVITIES 1. Press the ON/OFF button. You will hear Sir Topham Hatt welcome you.
3. Choose a mode of play by sliding the mode selector switch to Learn, Game or Follow mode. 4. Use your ThomasTM pointer to touch the images with descriptions on each page. There are a total of five touch-sensitive images on each page. As you touch them, you will hear them identified. 5. Press the left or right Wheel Button to listen to facts while in Learn Mode. Press the middle Wheel Button and a True or False question will be asked.
7. When there is no activity book inserted into the toy, you can still play by touching the characters on the toy with your ThomasTM pointer. CARE & MAINTENANCE 1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth. 2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time. 4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
