1. Important safety instructions When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, including the following: Read and understand all the instructions. 2. 2.3 Connect the Base Station Power adapter cable Line Cord 1. Plug the mains power cable into the base station, the other end of the power adapter into the wall outlet not controlled by a wall switch. 2. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the base station and the other end into the telephone wall socket. If you have DSL high speed internet service, a DSL filter (not included) is required. NOTES 1. Always use the cables supplied with the product. 2. 2.
2.5 Install and Charge the Handset Batteries Slide open the battery compartment cover to fit the NiMH rechargeable batteries into the handset. 2. Place the two batteries as indicated. Check that the polarity is correct. 3. Slide the battery compartment cover back until it clicks into place. 4. Place the handset on the base to charge for at least 14 hours. When the handset is fully charged the will be steady on screen. A beep indicates that the handset is properly placed on the base or charger.

Steady when the handset is in range of the base. Flashes when out of range of the base or not registered to the base.
Indicates a call is in progress. Indicates that handsfree is being used. Indicates that the ringer is switched off. Steady when an alarm is set. Flashes when the alarm sounds. Indicates that the keypad is locked. Indicates when the batteries are fully charged. 3.5 Text and Digit Entry Table The following table shows you where each letter and punctuation character can be found. This will be helpful when storing a name in the phonebook and renaming your handset. In editing mode, a cursor is displayed to indicate the current text entry position. It is positioned at the right of the last character entered. Notes 1. Once a character is selected, the cursor will move to the next position after a short pause. 2.
4. Use your phone 4.1 Make a Call 4.1.1 Preparatory Dialling Enter the phone number and press entry. 4.1.2 Press 4.1.3 or to dial the number. Press to clear the Direct Dialing or to access dial tone then enter the phone number. Call from the Phonebook Press to access the phonebook then press p q to select the desired phonebook entry. Press or to dial out to the selected phonebook entry. Alternatively, press then p q to access the phonebook to get the desired phonebook entry. 4.1.
4.3 End a Call During a call connection, press to end the call. OR Put the handset on the base to end the call. 4.4 Adjust Earpiece and Handsfree Volume There are 5 volume levels (VOLUME 1 to VOLUME 5) to choose from for the earpiece and handsfree volume. During a call: Press p q to select volume 1-5. The current setting is shown on screen. When you end the call, the setting will remain at the last selected level. 4.
4.8.1 Redial a Number from the Redial List 1. In idle mode, press q to access the redial list. Remark: If redial entry is shown with a name, press 2. Press p q to browse the redial list. Press or to dial to the selected redial number. 3. to view the number. NOTE If there are no numbers in the redial list, the display shows “EMPTY”. 4.8.2 Store a Redial Number into the Phonebook 1. 4.9 Find the Handset You can locate the handset by pressing on the base. All the handsets registered to the base will produce the paging tone and “PAGING” is flashing on the screen. You can stop the paging by pressing / / on any handset or on the base again. Note If there is an incoming call during paging, paging will cease and the phone will ring with the incoming call instead. 4.10 Make an Internal Call This feature is only applicable when there are at least two registered handsets.
4.10.3 Transfer an External Call to Another Handset During an external call: then p q to select INTERCOM. 1. Press 2. Press to select the second handset with which to connect via intercom. If you have more than 2 handsets, the available handset numbers will be displayed on the screen. To intercom a specific handset, press the handset number on the keypad. If you press on the keypad all handsets will ring. 3. The external call is put on hold automatically and the called handset rings. 4. Press 5.
4.12 Call Waiting Call Waiting tells you if a new caller is trying to contact you when you are already on the phone. A network tone alerts you to the new caller, so you can answer your second incoming call by putting the first caller on hold. 1. Press 2. To revert back to the original caller, press . Your first caller is put on hold and you can talk to your second caller. again. Note Access to Call Waiting requires a subscription to your network operator.
5. PHONEBOOK Your phone can store up to 50 phonebook entries with names and numbers. Each phonebook entry can have a maximum of 20 digits for the phone number and 12 characters for the name. You can also select different ringtones for your phonebook entries. Phonebook entries are stored alphabetically by name. 5.1 Add a New Phonebook Entry In idle: 1. Press to access the phonebook. OR Press and p q to select PHONEBOOK main menu item and then press to access the phonebook. 2. Press to select ADD.
5.3.1 To Search Alphabetically Press the relevant keypad button, e. g. for the entries beginning with T press 8 once then press p q to scroll through the entries. 5.4 Edit a Phonebook Entry In idle: 1. Press 2. 3. Press p q to select the desired phonebook entry. Press then p q to select EDIT. 4. Press 5. Edit the name (if applicable) then press 6. Edit the number (if applicable) then press 7. CALLER DISPLAY (NETWORK DEPENDENT) If you have subscribed to Calling Number Display service, and provided the caller’s number is not blocked, the number (or name if stored in the phonebook) will be displayed when the phone is ringing. With some incoming calls, if the telephone number is not available, the handset may display one of the following explanations: UNAVAILABLE The number is not available. PRIVATE The caller has withheld their number. PAYPHONE The caller is ringing from a payphone.

PHONE SETTINGS Your phone comes with a selection of settings that you can change to personalize your phone the way you like it to work. 7.1 Date and Time Settings You will need to set the correct date and time so that you know when Answering System messages were received. If you have Calling Number Display, the date / time will be set automatically after an incoming call. 7.1.1 Change the Date Format 1. Press 2. Press then p q to select HS SETTINGS. then p q to select DATE & TIME. 3.
7.1.4 Set the Date 1. Press then p q to select HS SETTINGS. 2. Press 3. Press then p q to select DATE & TIME. then p q to select SET DATE. 4. Press to enter the date information. 5. Press to confirm. NOTE If date has been set before, the current date will display. 7.2 Alarm Settings You can use this phone to set an alarm clock. When an alarm is set, the displays on the screen.

7.3.7 Set the Auto Answer If you turn on the Auto Answer, you can pick up the call from the cradle without pressing any key. 1. Press 2. Press 3. Press 4. Base Settings The current settings are marked with an asterisk in the relevant menu, which is displayed at the right-hand side of the menu item. 7.4.
7.4.3 De-register a Handset You are requested to enter the 4-digit PIN in order to de-register a handset from the base. The icon on the de-registered handset will blink. Registration Your handset and the base station are pre-registered. If for some reason, the handset is not registered to the base ( flashes even when the handset is near the base station), register your handset according to the following procedure. 1.
8. ANSWERing SYSTEM (For ES1320/1320-2 ONLY) The ES1320,ES1320-2 includes a telephone answering system that records unanswered calls when it is switched on. The screen message counter (two digits) seven segment display on the base will show the number of the messages when the answering system is on. The answering system can store up to 59 messages within the maximum recording time of approximately 15 minutes. As well as recording incoming messages, you can record memos for other users of your phone.
8.2 Listen to the Messages in the Answering System When new messages are recorded on the answering system, flashes on the handset display and the message counter on the base flashes with the number of new messages in the answering system until all the new messages are played. Old messages will be played after all new messages are played completely. The message counter LED stays steady to indicate the number of old messages stored in the answering system. 8.2.1 Listen to New Messages through the Base 1.
Alternatively, you can use the following shortcut keys to control different operation during message playback. Press to stop message playback. Press to skip to repeat playing the current message from the beginning. Press twice to skip backward to the previous message. Press to skip to play the next message. Press to delete the current message playback. 8.3 Delete All Messages in the Answering System 8.3.1 Delete All Messages through the Base: In idle: Press and hold X on the base. 2.
8.5 Answering System Settings You can use the TAM SETTINGS menu through the handset to change the settings of your answering system. 8.5.1 Set the Answer Mode: By default, the answering system is set in ANS & REC mode which allows callers to leave a message. This mode can be changed to ANSWER ONLY which does not allow callers to leave a message. In that case, your callers will be prompted to call back later. then p q to select ANS. Press to playback your personalised OGM (if you have recorded a personalised OGM before) and PLAYING OGM will be displayed on the screen. 7. 8.10 Set the Recording Time of Incoming Message You can set the maximum length of the recording time of the incoming messages. then p q to select ANS. MACHINE. then p q to select TAM SETTINGS. 1. Press 2. Press 3. Press then p q to select RECORD TIME (Available options: 60, 120, 180 seconds or UNLIMITED). 4. Press 5. Press 8.11 then p q to select your desired recording time. to confirm.
8.11.3 Access Your Answering System Remotely You can ring your phone from another tone-dialling phone to switch the answering system on or off then listen to your messages remotely. 1. Place a call from a tone-dialling phone to your phone. 2. When the answering system answers the calls and starts playing the OGM, press . Note You must enter system remotely. 3. while the OGM is still playing, in order to access the answering Enter the 4-digit Remote Access PIN.
8.11.4 Remote Commands When the answering system is set to ON and when there is an incoming message, the base will start call screening automatically after the preset numbers of rings of answer delay. 10. Troubleshooting If you have difficulty with your phone, please try the suggestion listed below. Problem Solutions My telephone does not work at all. • Make sure the batteries are installed and charged correctly. For optimum daily performance, return the handset to the telephone base after use. • Make sure the power adapter is securely plugged into an outlet not controlled by a wall switch. • Make sure the telephone line cord is plugged firmly into the telephone base and the telephone wall jack.
There is interference during a telephone conversation. My calls fade out when I am using the handset. The handset may be out of range. Move it closer to the telephone base. • If you subscribe to high-speed Internet service (digital subscriber line - DSL) through your telephone line, you must install a DSL filter between the telephone base and the telephone wall jack. The filter prevents noise and caller ID problems caused by DSL interference.
Common cure for electronic equipment. If the telephone is not responding normally, put the handset in the telephone base. If it does not respond, try the following (in the order listed): • Disconnect the power to the telephone base. • Disconnect the batteries on the handset. • Wait a few minutes before connecting power to the telephone base. • Re-install the batteries and place the handset in the telephone base. • Wait for the handset to synchronize with the telephone base.

Care and maintenance instructions Take care of your telephone • Your cordless telephone contains sophisticated electronic parts, so you must treat it with care. • Avoid rough treatment. • Place the handset down gently. • Save the original packing materials to protect your telephone if you ever need to ship it. Avoid water • You can damage your telephone if it gets wet. Do not use the handset in the rain, or handle it with the wet hands.
