Multiple handset use
Intercom
Use the intercom feature for conversations between the telephone base and a
cordless handset, or two cordless handsets. You can only use the handset to
initiate an intercom call.
To initiate an intercom call:
Press MENU when the handset is not in use.
Press or to scroll to Intercom, then press SELECT.
When you have more than one handset, your handset
shows Intercom to: Use the dialing keys to enter a
destination device number (7 for the telephone base, or
1 to 5 for HANDSET 1 to HANDSET 5).
Your handset shows Calling HS X/Calling base. The The
destination device rings and shows HS X is calling.
To answer the intercom call with the destination handset,
press , , or any dialing key (0-9, or ). Both handsets now
show Intercom.

To answer the intercom call with the telephone base, press , or any dialing key
(0-9, or ). Both the handset and telephone base now show Intercom.
To end the intercom call with the handset, one party presses OFF or places the
handset back in the telephone base. Both handsets display Intercom ended.
-OR-
To end the intercom call at the telephone base, press or . Both system devices
display Intercom ended.
You can cancel the intercom call before it is answered by pressing OFF.
If the destination handset does not answer the intercom call within 100 seconds,
or if it is out of range, on a call, or accessing the answering system, directory or
caller ID log, your handset displays Unable to call and then returns to idle mode.
You can press OFF or MUTE on the destination handset to temporarily silence
the intercom ringer.
Two pairs of intercom calls can be established at a time.
