Answering system
Call screening on a handset:
If the answering system is on, the handset shows
TO SCREEN CALL, PRESS [SELECT] when a call arrives.
Press MENU/SELECT on the handset. The announcement
and the incoming message broadcast from the handset
speakerphone.
Press DIR/VOLUME to increase or CID/VOLUME to
decrease the message playback volume.
Press SPEAKER to switch between the
speakerphone and handset earpiece.
Press EQUALIZER to change the quality of the audio of the handset
to best suit your hearing (see Equalizer on page 28).
If using the handset earpiece, press AUDIO ASSIST to enhance the clarity
and loudness of your caller’s voice (see Audio assist™ on page 28). Press
again to stop this feature.
Press OFF/CLEAR to stop.
Call intercept
While the answering system is recording an incoming
message, you can press PHONE/FLASH or SPEAKER
on a handset to stop recording and speak to the caller.
NOTE: During call screening on a handset, pressing SPEAKER
will switch between the speakerphone and handset earpiece. If you want to use the
speakerphone to speak to the call on that handset, press PHONE/FLASH and then
SPEAKER.
Temporarily turning off the message alert tone
Follow the step below to temporarily silence the
message alert tone:
When the telephone base is in idle mode, press any
telephone base key (except HANDSET LOCATOR).
The message alert tone is activated again with the
next incoming message.
NOTES:
When the telephone base is in idle mode, if you press DELETE to temporarily silence the
message alert tone, there is a voice prompt to direct you to press DELETE again to delete
all old messages (see To delete all old messages at the telephone base on page 55). If you
are not going to delete all old messages, wait at least five seconds to allow the telephone
base to return to idle mode.
