C-290 Packaged Rotary Steering System
Complete Quality Steering System in a Box
Complete steering systems include helm, cable, and 90 degree bezel. Available
in 1 foot increments from 6-20 feet. Wheel not included.
• Bolt-in replacement for Morse and other steering systems
with no new holes to drill.
• Quality cable with stainless output ends.
• Quick and easy to install.
• Choice of cable entry positions.
• High durability with heavy duty casing, machined drive
gear and one-piece steel pinion shaft.
Applications:
• Generally the Command 290 can be used on boats up to 35 feet in length.
• 300 lb. maximum working load at the tiller end.
• Some high performance boat engine combinations develop steering instability
at high speed. Instability becomes more prevelant in boats faster than 50 MPH. A
twin cable system, MPS - Morse Power Steering or a Hynautic hydraulic steering
system is recommended for these type boats.
• Hynautic hydraulic steering is recommended for boats not equipped with power
steering, that have a working load of 300 lbs. or more at the tiller end.
• Maximum steering wheel diameter is 16"
• The Command 290 should not be used on boats equipped with engines that
exceed the maximum rating of the boat.
Warning
Although Morse Controls designs and manufactures steering systems that meet or
exceed all existing industry standards, it hsould be noted that some high perfor-
mance accessories such as motor jack plates and high performance propellers can
generate steering loads far in excess of 300 lbs. at the tiller end. It is mandatory
that boats equipped with high performance equipment or accessories be water
tested to insure that steering loads are within safe operating limits. For more
