Compact Steering For Inboards
IB 631 System
The premier small inboard steering
system featuring the most powerful
cylinder, the K-51, and high pres-
sure lines (order separately). For most
planing pleasure boats to 38 feet.
IB 611 System
A high pressure steering system
which requires high pressure hose
(order separately). For planing boats
to 35 feet with heavy steering loads.
IB 261 System
This system has a low pressure
relief and uses nylon tubing
throughout. Cylinder has ball joint
mount on both ends. Advantages:
Cost, ease of installation.
2-Line Systems
2-Line compact steering systems for small
inboard boats are generally for boats under 38
feet. However, the application depends upon
many factors, including rudder size and angle,
boat speed, and boat use. The System Selec-
tion Guide is intended for general application.
In addition, the following general rules apply:
1. When possible, match known rudder torque
with cylinder output to determine proper steer-
ing system.
2. When in doubt, use the largest recom-
mended system. Use a high pressure (950 psi
relief) system whenever possible.
3. The system operating pressure should not
exceed half the system relief pressure. (This
may be hard to determine without gauges, but
remember that two-handed wheel effort usu-
ally begins at about 400 psi line pressure.)
