WAL-RICH SHOWER PAN LINER
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
PREPARATION
The structural subfloor must be clean, reasonably smooth, and free of holes, cracks and sharp projec-
tions. Nail heads should be driven flush or recessed.
Blocking between studs is recommended to support the upturned shower pan liner.
Subfloor or substrate should be sloped per code requirements, towards the drain, and must contain no
depressions where water will accumulate. On smaller areas, pitching may not be a code requirement. We
recommend a pitched subfloor whenever possible.
Drains must be suitably designed for use with a flexible membrane. They must incorporate a clamping
device and weep holes.
MATERIALS
W-R Shower Pan Liner.
W-R Shower Pan Liner Cement. Alternatively, certain other medium bodied PVC shower pan liner cements
may be used, such as IPS Weld-On. Regular PVC pipe cement cannot be used with our liner, nor can products
designed for CPE based material such as Noble companies Chloraloy®.
Wide head nails for tacking upturn of liner.
INSTALLATION
Line the area with W-R Shower Pan Liner. Allow for 3" upturn when cutting the liner.
Turn the liner up on all sides, fold and glue the corners.
Secure the liner to side walls using nails or staples ½" from the top. Lay excess material over the dam, if
any, and fasten on the outside face.
The drain is fitted by pressing firmly on the liner to show the outline of the drain body opening. Cut open-
ing, taking care not to cut beyond the perimeter of the clamping ring of the drain. Notch material to expose the
tappings in the drain body, or punch out bolt holes by placing the round end of a ball pean hammer over the
holes and tapping until the bolt hole has been cut.
Caulk sealant may optionally be used to improve the seal between the clamping ring and the liner. Be sure
not to block weep holes with any sealants.
Fit and tighten clamping ring firmly to create a watertight seal.
Where large areas are to be protected, (steam rooms, gang showers, etc.), sheets may be joined. W-R
Shower Pan Liner Cement provides a watertight, permanent seam. Allow for a 3" lap seam, and 6" when using
a cap seam. Roughen both surfaces with a clean wire brush, working 3 feet at a time. Allow to cure for 24 hours
before stressing.
Test installation by filling shower pan with water. If leaking is detected, first retighten the drain clamping
ring. Inspect the ring to be certain that it is not warped and that it mates properly with drain body. In some cases
it is possible to create a glue seal by gluing a second layer of W-R Shower Pan Liner around the drain body and
reassembling the drain.
LIMITATIONS
W-R Shower Pan Liner is intended for installation with a full mortar bed. Thin bed tile installations may require a different
installation.
Our installation guidelines are general descriptions and are based on information which we believe to be reliable. Because specific
use, installation and material cannot be controlled by Wal-Rich Corporation, our warranty is limited to the replacement of defective
product.
