Installation Manual

931-920 Gas Station
Thank you for purchasing this WalthersTrainline® kit. Please read these instructions and study the drawings before starting.
For decades, bright and colorful service stations were a familiar sight along the busiest streets of every American city and
town, as well as freeway exits and interchanges. In addition to gasoline sales, the owner usually doubled as a mechanic,
handling basic repairs and services such as oil changes and washing. Drivers could also purchase replacement fan belts,
light bulbs, batteries and wiper blades, and have them installed. Visit your local hobby shop; see the latest Walthers Model
Railroad Reference Book or log onto walthers.com for more ideas to complete your new model.
Building Tips:
Always cut parts from the sprues with a hobby knife; work slowly and carefully; make several light passes with your knife
rather than trying to cut through all at once. For best results, cut between the part and the sprue then carefully scrape
away any remaining plastic on the part.
While painting is optional, it’s easier to do before beginning assembly and can be done using acrylic (water-based) paints,
available at many hobby and craft stores.
Test fit all parts before gluing to make sure they fit correctly.
Attach plastic parts using cement for styrene (sold separately). Please read and follow the directions and safety precau-
tions, and work in a well-ventilated area. Use glue sparingly, a little will do the job, and apply it on the inside where parts-
meet for a neat appearance.

Doors & Windows:
PLEASE NOTE: These images show the back (inside) of each wall; the front of each
wall has small squares molded in place. Use the raised ridges on each window to
align parts: insert them through the openings in the back of the walls as shown first,
and glue in place.
The Medium Double Windows on the Back Wall and Small Glass used in the Front
Wall are molded as one piece and need to be cut apart. Use a modeling saw, or care-
fully make several passes inside the molded scribe lines between sections with a new
knife blade – ALWAYS work away from your hands and gently snap the sections
apart.
1) Front Wall: From left to right, glue Entry Window & Door Frame, Small Double Window
Frame and Service Bay Doors to inside of Front Wall. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure the right
edge of the Small Double Window “Glass” is aligned with the right edge of the Small Double
Window Frame and glue in place. Glue Large, Medium and Small “Glass” pieces to backs of
windows and doors as shown.
2) Back Wall: Carefully glue Large Back Wall Glass in the open area on inside of
Back Wall. Glue two Small Double Window Frames and one Small Single
Window
Frame to inside of Back Wall. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure the left edge of
the first Small Double Window “Glass” is aligned with the left edge of the Small
Double Window Frame and glue in place. Glue remaining Small Double Window
“Glass” to right Double Window Frame, and Small “Glass” to Small Single
Window as shown.
3) Carefully glue Large Left Wall Glass in the open area on inside of Left Wall.
4) Glue Right Small Window Frame to opening in Right Wall. Glue small clear “Glass” piece to back of window. Note the molded
door handles are the outside of both Doors; with the handles on your right, use the raised ridges on the Doors to align them with
the openings in the Right Wall and glue in place.

the Base and Sign Platform. Glue completed Gas
Pumps and Display Cases to Island as shown.
13) Complete assembly by gluing Canopy
Support to center opening in Island. Glue
Large Sign to center opening in Sign
