Between mats or cables, what do you recommend?
Cables work well in all applications and are the best product for irregular shaped areas, mats work well to reduce cable installation time especially in
rectangular areas.
Between 120/240 Vac Cable, which do you recommend?
For areas larger than 70 ft
2
(6.50 m
2
), the 240 V kits may be more economical and reduce amperage requirements for wiring etc.
Does this product require a professional installer?
Warm Tiles
®
is designed for easy installation by the skilled do-it-yourselfer. However, you should always check with your local electrical inspection
agency prior to installing Warm Tiles
®
.
Can I use the DFT Cable with an uncoupling membrane instead of metal strapping?
Yes, as long as the DFT Cable will t snugly to the membrane and it would satisfy the required spacing.
Can I use the SAM for irregular-shaped areas?
Custom mats are available for various shaped areas that do not conform to standard mat kits, such as ovals, circles and triangles.
Can I cut the cable?
The length of heated cable CANNOT be altered. Cold leads, however, can be cut to desired length, with the factory tag retained.
Can I install the Warm Tiles
®
system in shower area?
Warm Tiles
®
may be installed in shower areas under the waterproong membrane, although it is recommended that you check with your local
electrical inspector rst to verify that this application is allowed in your jurisdiction.
How many hours does it take to heat up the floor?
When rst energized, the Warm Tiles
®
system may take up to 2 hours to fully warm your oor, although the actual time may vary depending on the
ambient conditions, oor material and thickness.
Can I connect two kits together?
Yes but the cables must be parallel connected to the thermostat in the electrical junction box.
Can I cut the excess length of my DFT Heating Cable?
No, the cable must not be cut or altered in length. Extra cable can be used up by adjusting the spacing. (example add required number of 1.5”
spacings between standard spaced cable runs)
Can I overlap the cable?
The cable MUST NOT touch, cross, or overlap itself at any point. This would cause the cable to overheat and require replacement.
Can I cut the cable in my mat system?
No.
Is the FG/FGS compatible with my 120/240 Vac system?
Yes, it is dual voltage.
My power source is 208 Vac. Can I use your FG thermostat?
Yes, FG thermostat will still work but with low heat output for the heating cable.
What is the current rating of your FGS thermostats?
15 Amps
Can multiple heating cables be controlled by one thermostat?
Yes, if the total Amp load of the multiple heating cables will not exceed 15 Amps. Multiple heating cables exceeding 15 Amps require a relay kit
installed in conjunction with the thermostat.
What is the purpose of a relay kit?
Relays can be used in conjunction with a thermostat when you are connecting two or more oor warming kits that have a combined total load
amperage which exceeds 15 amps.
What is the Amp rating of the relay kits RK1 and RK2?
24 amps
What is the use of DT1?
The DT1 (Detecto™ Electric Fault Indicator) is designed to monitor Warm Tiles
®
Floor Warming Cable or Mat Systems during installation.
What is the Warranty on the product?
There is a fteen (15) year limited warranty on Warm Tiles
®
cables. Warranty details are provided in the instructions with each product.
