3.2 Thermal Insulation
TheinsulationlevelsoftheoorwillaffectboththeperformanceandoperatingcostsoftheTempZone™oorheating
system.Thermalinsulationreectstheheatupwardsintotheoortileinsteadofallowingheattopenetrateintothe
suboor,keepingtheoorwarmerforalongertime.
Whenthecableisinstalledonaconcreteslab,werecommendaddingalayerofinsulationtotheslabpriortoinstallingthe
TempZone™FloorHeatingCable.Addinginsulationontopoftheconcreteslabandbeneathanyoorheatingsystemwill
allowagreaterpercentageofheatgeneratedtotransfertotheooringsurface.WarmlyYoursrecommendsusing5mm
thickCeraZorb®syntheticcorkunderlayment.
3.3 Calculation of Length of Cable Required
Todeterminetheappropriatecablelengthfortheinstallation,measuretheareatobeheatedandcalculatetheareain
squarefeet.Donotincludetheareacoveredbyxedobjects,suchasappliances,bathtubs,cabinets,etc.Refertothe
“InstallationandSpacingRecommendations”chartinsection1.2todeterminetherecommendedwattdensitypersquare
footforthetypeofinstallation.Referto“ProductSelectionGuide--120V”or“ProductSelectionGuide--240V”insection9to
selectappropriatecablelength.
