DHCP.
1 Click Start > Control Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.
2 Double-click the Network Connections icon.
3 Double-click the Local Area Connection icon.
4 Double-click the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item.
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box appears.
5 Select the Obtain an IP address automatically and the Obtain
DNS server address automatically options.
6 Click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties
dialog box.
7 Click OK to close the Local Area Network Connection
Properties dialog box. Close the Network Connections and
Control Panel windows.
Your computer is now connected to the Firebox X Edge.
Setting your computer with a static IP address
This procedure sets a computer with the Windows XP operating sys-
tem to a static IP address. If your computer does not use Windows
XP, read the documentation for instructions to set your computer to
use DHCP. You must use an IP address on the same network as the
Firebox X Edge trusted interface.
1 Click Start > Control Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.
2 Double-click the Network Connections icon.
3 Double-click the Local Area Connection icon.
4 Double-click the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item.
The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box appears.
5 Select the Use the following IP address option.
6 In the IP address field, type an IP address on the same network
as the Edge trusted interface. We recommend 192.168.111.2.
The default trusted interface network is 192.168.111.0/24. The last
number can be between 2 and 254.
7 In the Subnet Mask field, type 255.255.255.0.
