Limited Warranty: Watts Regulator Co. (the “Company”) warrants each product to be free from defects
in material and workmanship under normal usage for a period of one year from the date of original ship-
ment. In the event of such defects within the warranty period, the Company will, at its option, replace
or recondition the product without charge.
THE WARRANTY SET FORTH HEREIN IS GIVEN EXPRESSLY AND IS THE ONLY WARRANTY
GIVEN BY THE COMPANY WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCT. THE COMPANY MAKES NO OTHER
WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE COMPANY HEREBY SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED
WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
The remedy described in the first paragraph of this warranty shall constitute the sole and exclusive
remedy for breach of warranty, and the Company shall not be responsible for any incidental, special
or consequential damages, including without limitation, lost profits or the cost of repairing or replacing
other property which is damaged if this product does not work properly, other costs resulting from labor
charges, delays, vandalism, negligence, fouling caused by foreign material, damage from adverse water
conditions, chemical, or any other circumstances over which the Company has no control. This warranty
shall be invalidated by any abuse, misuse, misapplication, improper installation or improper maintenance
or alteration of the product.
Some States do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, and some States do not allow
the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. Therefore the above limitations may
not apply to you. This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights
that vary from State to State. You should consult applicable state laws to determine your rights. SO
FAR AS IS CONSISTENT WITH APPLICABLE STATE LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES THAT MAY NOT
BE DISCLAIMED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR
A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF ORIGINAL
SHIPMENT.
Garantía limitada: Watts Regulator Co. (en adelante, “la Compañía”) garantiza, por un período de un año a
partir de la fecha de embarque original, que sus productos están libres de defectos en materiales y mano de obra

Watts Series AS-MB air separators provide high capacity air separation and
elimination when installed as instructed. They are also designed for easy field
servicing.
You are required to thoroughly read all installation instructions and product
safety information before beginning the installation of this product. FAILURE
TO COMPLY WITH PROPER INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN PRODUCT FAILURE WHICH CAN
CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR DEATH.
Watts is not responsible for damages resulting from improper installation and/
or maintenance.
Local building or plumbing codes may require modifications to the information
provided. You are required to consult the local building and plumbing codes
prior to installation. If this information is not consistent with local building or
plumbing codes, the local codes should be followed.
Need for Periodic Inspection/Maintenance: This product must be tested
periodically in compliance with local codes, but at least once per year or more
as service conditions warrant. Corrosive water conditions, and/or unauthor-
ized adjustments or repair could render the product ineffective for the service
intended. Regular checking and cleaning of the product’s internal compo-
nents helps assure maximum life and proper product function.

Certains États n’autorisent pas les limitations de durée d’une garantie tacite ou l’exclusion ou la limita-
tion des dommages accessoires ou indirects. Les limitations susmentionnées peuvent donc ne pas

Typical Installation
Model AS-MB FL shown with Series PIPF Isolation Flange with Purge Port and
Swivel Flange, Series RBFF Residential Boiler Fill Fitting, Series ETX Expansion Tank
and Series B911S Bronze Combination Fill Valve and Backflow Preventer.
Installation – All Models
The AS-MB should be installed on the boiler supply header in a vertical position
with the vents facing up. The ½" bottom tapping is intended for use with the Watts
Series RBFF Residential Boiler Fitting or for direct connection to a diaphragm
expansion tank. See Figure 1 for the preferred piping arrangement.
Note: The AS-MB is bi-directional in relation to flow so either port may be used for
the inlet/outlet. No minimum inlet/outlet piping length required for proper operation.
Installation – Model AS-MB FL Flanged
Model AS-MB FL is equipped with flanged inlet and outlet connections.
The fixed inlet flange is intended for use with the Watts Series PIPF Isolation Pump
Flanges with Purge Port & Swivel Flange to create a compact system purge/air
separation module.
The swivel outlet flange can accept direct connection to a standard system pump.
Alternatively, it can accept a standard pump flange for connection to system piping
or circulator manifold, or accept the Series IPF Isolation Pump Flange for additional
isolation capability. The AS-MB FL flanged connections also allow for easy servicing
or modification of supply header piping.
Operation
After installing the AS-MB, back off the black vent cap two turns (see Fig. 2). This
is the proper operating setting which will allow air to be automatically vented from
the system. It is advisable to not entirely remove the cap to prevent impurities from
entering the valve.
For high volume manual air elimination, remove the red cap and use a small screw-
driver to gently depress the plunger. Replace red cap and lightly hand tighten when
manual venting is completed.
Warning: System fluid may be hot. Fluid temperatures above 100 degrees
F can be hazardous. Use Caution when manually venting hot water systems.
Servicing and Maintenance
Watts recommends the AS-MB be disassembled for inspection and cleaning
periodically.
Caution: System fluid under pressure can be hazardous! Before
serving the AS-MB, make certain to reduce system pressure to zero or
to fully isolate the AS-MB from system pressure. Use the manual vent
mechanism under the red cap (see Operation section) to confirm system
pressure is not present before disassembly.
The AS-MB uses the Watts DuoVent (PN 0590719 or 0590720) air vent
float assembly. The float assembly can be removed for inspection or clean-
ing. If replacement is required, disassemble the float assembly from a Watts
DuoVent and install in the AS-MB. To disassemble, use a strap wrench on the
rim of the air vent assembly to remove.
The AS-MB uses a rugged, corrosion-
resistant polyphenylsulfone coalescing
media that withstands petroleum-based
cleaners, glycol antifreeze and tempera-
tures up to 240 degrees F. Under normal
operating conditions, the media will not
require servicing. However, the media can
be removed for inspection or cleaning if
required.
The unique AS-MB coalescing media
is constructed of 15 interlocking rings,
which can be accessed under the body
cap. If necessary, the stack can be disas-
sembled for cleaning and then snapped
back together. The stack (with the six ring
“fingers” facing up) is then snapped into
the bottom opening of the body cap and
reassembled to the body.
In the event the o-ring becomes dam-
aged, the threads of the body cap can
be wrapped with Teflon tape to create a
watertight seal.
