Version 3.03 SPEEDLAN 9000 Series Installation and Operation User Guide
Appendix F (SPEEDSignal)-2
What is SPEEDSignal?
SPEEDSignal is a tool designed to help installers align or position antennas on
SPEEDLAN 9000 units. SPEEDSignal allows you to view how well the unit (being
installed) is communicating with the rest of the network. SPEEDSignal is available in two
versions: one that is designed to operate over a wired connection and another that
communicates with 9000s via their wireless interface. Since the wireless version of
SPEEDSignal runs on a Pocket PC
®
Personal Digital Assistant, installers can easily
access it when troubleshooting antenna alignment problems in the field.
The wired version is called SPEEDSignal for Desktop PC. (This version can run on a
laptop or a desktop PC using an Ethernet connection.) The wireless version is called
SPEEDSignal for Pocket PC Personal Digital Assistant, herein abbreviated in this
document as SPEEDSignal for Pocket PC PDA.
