Chapter 1: Introduction 1 Chapter 1: Introduction The Enabler is an application that is installed on mobile devices to facilitate communication between the device and a mobile device server. The mobile device server allows communication between the mobile device and the Avalanche Console. The Enabler can manage a number of functions on the mobile device to allow administrators to configure mobile devices. These functions include: • Control of the WiFi radio.
Chapter 1: Introduction 2 Since part of the Enabler’s design provides for the download of configuration files and applications from a mobile device server, the Enabler may write other files to volatile and nonvolatile memory. For example, the Enabler allows users to download and install the Wavelink Terminal Emulation Client over the network connection. The Registry The Enabler uses the mobile device registry to obtain and configure the IP settings of the radio card on the mobile device.
