Observe special environments such as mining, petrochemicals,
tunnels, pipelines etc. The MICE classication is not valid for these.
2.6 Power capability of the cabling
Both IEC 11801 and EN 50173 contain a classication of symmetric copper
cabling. To date, classes A-F have been described. As a rule: the higher the class
the better the quality of transmission of the cable.
General transmission path classes for industrial applications
Class D – specied up to 100 MHz;
frequently used transmission route with capacity for 100 Mbps or 1,000 Mbps
Klasse E – specied up to 250 MHz;
Transmission routes with capacity for 100 Mbps, 1,000Mbps and additional
capacity reserves
Klasse E
A
– specied up to 500 MHz;
Transmission routes with capacity for 100 Mbps, 1,000Mbps and 10 Gbps
