rungsfreien Betrieb ist das Relais aktiviert, der Re-
laiskontakt geschlossen. Im Störungsfall wird das
Relais deaktiviert, der Relaiskontakt öó°šnet.
Der I/O-Anschluss arbeitet als digitaler Eingang,
ĂŒber den das GerĂ€t zurĂŒckgesetzt wird. Die Ein-
gangsspannung betrĂ€gt 0 V oder 24 V. Die RĂŒckset-
zung (Wiedereinschaltung) des GerÀtes nach einer
Abschaltung erfolgt mit einem 0 V Eingangssignal
(siehe auch unter âKurzschlussbetriebsartenâ).
Die Signalisierung der BetriebszustÀnde ist in der
Tabelle âStatusanzeige und Statusrelaisâ aufgelistet.
Temperaturverhalten
Das Netzteil ist fĂŒr den Betrieb im Temperaturbe-
reich von -25âŠ+70 °C ausgelegt. Ein Derating tritt
ab 60 °C ein (siehe Abb. F). Tritt in Folge unzulÀs-
siger Umgebungsbedingungen eine Ăbertempera-
tur auf, schaltet das GerÀt ab. Nach entsprechender
AbkĂŒhlung lĂ€uft das GerĂ€t selbststĂ€ndig wieder an.

ENGLISH
Intended use
PROtop power supplies are built-in devices with
IP20 protection. Adequate protection against con-
tact with live parts and ingress of dust and water
must be ensured through installation in a suitable
enclosure (e.g. control cabinet, control box, con-
sole or similar).
For marine applications, the devices may only be
operated on AC networks. The installation housings
must provide suó°©cient protection against salt spray.
Before installing the electrical system, it
should be completely disconnected from
the mains and the absence of voltage
must be proven.
The device must only be installed by qual-
iîżed electricians who are familiar with na-
tional and international laws, provisions
and standards.
Mounting and demounting
âș Clip the device on to a 35 mm DIN mounting rail
(e.g. WeidmĂŒller TS 35x7.5, see Fig. A1).
âș Dismantle the device by releasing the clip-in foot
using a screwdriver (see Fig. A2).
Installation
The electrical system must be installed in accord-
ance with the general rules of electrical engineering
and by qualiîżed specialists. This includes:
âą protection against electric shock
âą the use of a switching mechanism or isolation unit
for activating the power supply circuit
âą correct sizing of fuses and connecting lines
âą allocation of suó°©cient ventilation (50 mm clear-
ance for air intake from above and below)
âș Use of a suitable screwdriver (see information
contained in the âtechnical dataâ table).
ATTENTION
Risk of destruction!
âș Check the correct îżt of all connecting lines.
Mains voltage and fuses
The device is designed for connection to both AC
and DC networks. For DC networks care should be
taken to ensure correct polarity connection. The de-
vice is equipped with an internal fuse, eliminating
the need for additional external device protection.
Refer to the âTechnical dataâ table for the recom-
mended back-up fuse.
ATTENTION
Malfunction, device error!
The internal fuse is triggered in the event of an
internal defect.
âș Send the device to WeidmĂŒller for checking!

Single or parallel operation
Up to ten power supply units can be connected in
parallel in order to increase performance. The de-
vice has a âORing-MOSFETâ (OR) at the output.
The output will be safely disconnected from the load
circuit in the event of an internal short circuit. For
this reason, an external diode or redundancy mod-
ule can be omitted in parallel operation. In single op-
eration âSâ the output follows the IU characteristic
curve. In parallel operation âPâ the device operates
with a reduced IU characteristic (see Fig. D).

Short circuit operating modes
In continuous current operation âCâ the short circuit
current is supplied continuously.
In switch-oó°š operation âSâ the device switches oó°š
approximately 5 seconds after a short circuit.
There are two ways to reset the device follow-
ing switch-oó°š (see also âStatus relay and I/O con-
nectionâ):
âą brief, electrical connection (e.g. via a relay or tran-
sistor switch) of the I/O connection with the de-

Status relay and I/O connection
The device has a îoating relay output (13 and 14)
and an I/O connection. During disruption-free oper-
ation the relay is activated and the relay contact is
closed. In the event of a fault the relay is deactivat-
ed and the relay contact is opened. The I/O connec-
tion operates as a digital input, which is used to re-
set the device. The input voltage is 0 V or 24 V. The
device is reset (reactivated) after a switch-oó°š by
means of a 0 V input signal (see also under âShort
circuit operating modesâ).
The signalling of the operational states is set out in
the âStatus indicator and status relayâ table.
Temperature behaviour
The power supply is designed for operation in the
temperature range -25...+70 °C. Derating occurs at
60 °C (see Fig. F). If overheating occurs as a result
of impermissible environmental conditions, the de-
vice switches oó°š. Once the unit has cooled down it
will restart automatically.
Communications interface
The device has a communications interface. It is lo-
cated on the front side of the device and is protect-
ed against ESD and environmental inîuences by
a black protective cap. Only remove the cap when
you attach the PRO COM communication device.
Please îżnd further information in the documentation
for the PRO COM communication device.

Lâappareil dispose dâune sortie relais libre de poten-
tiel (13 et 14) et dâun raccordement E/S. Pendant

automatiquement.
