C.3 Scanning Performance
The following figures illustrate the 3400/B and 3400LR/C’s
Scanner Performance or depth of field. Depth of field is the
range of distances over which a scanner can accurately
digitize a bar code. This distance is measured from the
front of the scanner at the exit window and is dependent on
code size, contrast, and quality. Depth of field is equal to
the far distance minus the near distance ( distance).
The first figure shows the depth of field for a contact scanner
and the second figure shows the depth of field for a
non–contact scanner.





