BEFORE YOU BEGIN Congratulations for selecting the new WESLO® PURSUIT SR 9.8 exercise cycle. Cycling is one of the most effective exercises for increasing cardiovascular fitness, building endurance, and toning the body. The PURSUIT SR 9.8 exercise cycle offers a selection of features designed to let you enjoy this healthful exercise in the convenience and privacy of your home. after reading this manual, please see the front cover of this manual.
ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Assembly requires only the included tool(s). 1. While a second person lifts the rear of the Frame (B), attach the Rear Stabilizer (A) with two M8 x 70mm Bolts (C), two M8 Curved Washers (D), and two Domed Nuts (E). 1 A D E D B C 2. Orient the Front Stabilizer (F) as shown.
3. Loosen the Seat Post Knob (H). Pull the Seat Post Knob outward and insert the Seat Post (I) into the Frame (B). 3 Adjust the Seat Post (I) to the desired height and then release the Seat Post Knob (H) into one of the adjustment holes in the Seat Post. Tighten Seat Post Knob and then tighten the Lock Knob (J). Make sure that the Seat Post Knob is firmly engaged in one of the adjustment holes in the Seat Post. I B 4. Set the Seat Carriage (K) in the bracket on the Seat Post (I).
6. While another person holds the Upright (O) near the Frame (B) as shown, connect the Upper Wire (P) to the Lower Wire (Q). 6 O Q B 7. Tip: Avoid pinching the wires. Loosen the Upright Knob (R). Pull the Upright Knob outward and insert the Upright (O) into the Frame (B). 7 Adjust the Upright (O) to the desired height and then release the Upright Knob (R) into one of the adjustment holes in the Upright. Tighten the Upright Knob and then tighten the Lock Knob (J).
. Orient the Handlebar (S) as shown. 8 Set the Handlebar (S) inside the Handlebar Clamp (T). Adjust the Handlebar to the desired position and then close the Handlebar Clamp. T S 9. Place the Handlebar Cover (U) over the Handlebar Clamp (T). Then, tighten the Handlebar Knob (V) with the Spacer (W) into the Handlebar Clamp. 9 V W U T 10. The Console (X) requires two AA batteries (not included); alkaline batteries are recommended.
11. Slide the Console (X) onto the Console Bracket (Y). 11 X Y 12. Attach the Console (X) with two Console Screws (Z). 12 X Z 13. Plug the Upper Wire (P) into the input jack on the right side of the Console (X). Plug the Pulse Wire (AA) into the pulse jack on the left side of the Console.
14. Identify the Right Pedal (BB), which is marked with an “R.” Firmly tighten the Right Pedal clockwise into the right arm of the Crank (CC). Tighten the Left Pedal (not shown) counterclockwise into the left arm of the Crank. 14 IMPORTANT: Tighten the pedals as firmly as possible. After using the exercise cycle for one week, retighten the pedals. For best performance, keep the pedals tightened. BB CC 15. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the exercise cycle.
HOW TO USE THE EXERCISE CYCLE To identify the parts mentioned in this section, please see the photograph on page 4. To adjust the seat, loosen the nuts on the seat clamp a few turns, tilt the seat upward or downward to the desired position, and then retighten the nuts. HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT POST HOW TO ADJUST THE UPRIGHT For effective exercise, the seat should be at the proper height. As you pedal, there should be a slight bend in your knees when the pedals are in the lowest position.
FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective. As you pedal, the console will provide continuous exercise feedback. Before using the console, make sure that batteries are installed (see assembly step 10 on page 8). If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the display, remove the plastic. HOW TO USE THE CONSOLE 1. Turn on the console. Begin pedaling to turn on the console. The display will light and the console will be ready for use. 2.
You can select the time, speed, distance, pulse, or calories mode for continuous display. When the exercise information you are interested in viewing appears in the display, press the Mode button. The word SCAN will no longer appear in the display. To return to the Scan mode, press the Mode button again. To pause the console, press the Pause button. The entire display will stop and flash. When the console is paused, the display will not count any exercise information.
MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING BATTERY REPLACEMENT Inspect and tighten all parts of the exercise cycle regularly. Replace any worn parts immediately. If the console display becomes dim or if the console does not function correctly, the batteries should be replaced; most console problems are the result of low batteries. To replace the batteries, see assembly step 10 on page 8. To clean the exercise cycle, use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES WARNING: Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
