ESPRESSO-STYLE DRINKS
CAPPUCCINO
The word cappuccino was derived from the cappuccino, or hood, worn by the
Capuchin Order of Friars during the 16
th
century. In Italy the word cappuccino later
developed another meaning – strong espresso coffee mixed with steamed milk or
cream – so named because the color of the coffee resembled the muddy brown
colored hood of the Capuchin Friar. Today this drink is enjoyed by people all over
the world.
1½ cups Milk
⅓ cup Water
1 heaping tsp. Instant coffee
½ tsp. Sugar
Add ingredients to the Hot Drink Maker and press the “ON” switch. Wait for the Hot
Drink Maker to automatically shut off. Dispense the drink into a mug. Sprinkle
ground nutmeg, cinnamon, or sweetened chocolate powder on top. You may also
add vanilla, mint, hazelnut, caramel, Irish cream, butterscotch, or almond syrup to
taste. Serves 2.
