INSTALLATION
When installing WESTERBEKE engines and generators it is important that strict
anention
be paid to th e foHowing infonnation:
CODES AND REGULATIONS
Strict federal regulations, ABYC guidelines, and safety codes must be comp li ed with
when in stal lin g en gi ne s and generators in a marine en vironment.
SIPH oN · BREAK
For in stal l atio ns where the exhaust manif o ld/ water injected exhaust el bow is close lO
or below th e vessel's waterline, provi sions must be made to install a sip ho n-br eak in
the raw water supply hose to th e exhaust elb ow. This hose must be looped a minimum
of 18" above the vessel 's waterline . Failure to use a siphon-br eak when the e xhaust
ma nifold injection port is at or beww the load waterline will result in raw water
damage to the engine and possible flooding of t he boat.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
Th e exhaust ho se mu st be certified for marine u se . Th e sys tem mu st be d es ig ned to
prevent water from entering the exhaust und er any sea conditions and at any angle
of the vessels hull.
