Valve
Clearance
Adjustment:
4.5 KW BeG
NOTE: Retorque the cylinder head bolts before adjust-
ing the engine's valves.
1.
Remove the rocker cover and the gasket.
2.
Carry out the check and adjustment of valve clearances, with
the piston of the No.1
cylinder positioned at the
top
of
ITS
compression stroke and the exhaust and intake valves com-
pletely closed. See
#2
of the table
to
the right below for the
values
to
be adjusted in this position.
3.
Rotate the crankshaft 180
0
to
position the
No.1
piston at the
top
of its exhaust stroke. Adjust the values as indicated in
#3
of the table
to
the right below.
4.
Replace the rocker cover along with a new rocker cover gas-
ket.
Rocker cover torque: 2.9 -

Spark
Plugs
To service the spark plugs, clean, gap
or
replace the plugs as
needed.
Do
not
remove the spark plugs while the engine is hot.
Allow the engine
to
cool before removing the spark
plugs.
Spark plug
gap: 0.028 -

Spark plug torque:
4.5 f0N BCG 10.8 - 15.2 Ib-ft

Check each
plug for damage and/or wear.
NOTE: Loc-tite "Anti-Seize" applied
to
the threaded por-
tion
of
the spark plugs will retard corrosion, making fu-
ture
removal
of
the spark plugs easier.
