Run the following tests if you are concerned that your drive is not operating properly: Drive status check The drive status check is a failure-prediction function that continuously monitors key internal performance attributes of the device drives.

When a drive fails, the utility displays a warning message: Check the drive status LEDs on the front of the device.
MY BOOK PRO USER MANUAL Removing and Replacing the Drive Your My Book Pro device is a limited user-serviceable device. You can easily replace the hard drives inside the enclosure. Important: Only use WD Black™ hard drives to replace the drives in your My Book Pro device enclosure. Also, replacement drives must be new, and the same capacity as the drive that failed. The RAID configurations require both drives to be the same capacity.
