Turn off power at fuse box to avoid possible electrical shock. Use metal outlet box suitable for fan support (must support 35 lbs). Before attaching fan to outlet box, ensure the outlet box is securely fastened by at least two points to a structural ceiling member (a loose box will cause the fan to wobble).

Remove the two screws and star washers from the holes on either side of the hole with the red mark (3). Make wire connections to mounting plate. See wiring diagram in next step. NOTE: For safety, please refer to steps #3 and #15 of Safety Tips on page 2.

Make sure red arrow sticker (2) on the canopy is lined up with red mark on the mounting plate. 3 2 Hold fan unit (with both hands) so that both the red mark on the mounting plate, and red arrow on the canopy are facing you. Lift fan up aligning arrow and red mark and push canopy assembly up to the mounting plate to plug in.

WARNING: Before returning power to fan, make sure button is fully engaging locking ring. 1 Unscrew and remove the finial (1), decorative cap (2), nut (3) and and rubber/ metal washer (4) from the bottom of the light kit. Install two bulbs (included).
UL-ES-SilverdaleES-INSTALOC WH09 20 Install glass (1) onto light kit and tighten rubber/metal washer (2) (rubber side facing the glass), and nut (3) onto bottom of glass. Make sure ceiling fan pull chain is threaded through the side hole in the bottom of the glass. Place decorative cap (4) over bottom of glass and secure by tightening decorative finial (5).
UL-ES-SilverdaleES-INSTALOC WH09 21 Once you have confirmed the operation of the fan, remove and discard red arrow sticker from the canopy. To install the canopy cover ring, peel the backing off the adhesive tape strips on the inside of the cover ring. Slide the cover ring up the downrod and secure to the canopy by gently pressing the adhesive tape to the bottom of the canopy. CAUTION!: Be careful and precise when attaching the canopy cover ring to the canopy.

Note: Some extended downrods have a pre-drilled set-screw hole. If a pre-drilled hole is present in the extended downrod, tighten the set screw into the pre-drilled hole in the extended downrod.

UL-ES-SilverdaleES-INSTALOC WH09 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE Operation Turn on the power and check operation of fan. The pull chain controls the fan speeds as follows: 1 pull - high; 2 pulls - medium; 3 pulls - low; 4 pulls - off. Speed settings for warm or cool weather depend on factors such as room size, ceiling height, number of fans and so on. The slide switch controls direction, forward or reverse. Warm weather/down position - (Forward) Fan turns counterclockwise direction.
