4.9.2 Installing Batteries
NOTE: Batteries are not supplied with the SP40S Multi-Function Facility Communication System and must be
purchased separately.
1. Connect the supplied red battery wire to the (+) terminal and the supplied black battery wire to the (–)
terminal of TB10 (see Figure 4-14).
2. Run jumpers along the bottom of the chassis in the battery compartment.

3. Refer to Figure 4-15 and place one 12 Volt battery with the battery terminals on top and to the right.
Place the second battery to the right of the first battery with the battery terminals on top and to the left.
CAUTION: Always install the two batteries with the battery terminals pointing to the center
and in the upright position as shown in Figure 4-15. Failure to do so may cause a short circuit
which may damage the SP40S panel or batteries and cause the panel to fail to operate in an
emergency condition.
