In order for a Series 100 Flame Guard® water heater to
operate, the pilot must be lit. The heat from the pilot
ame creates an
electrical current in the thermopile. The
thermopile generates the power needed to operate the
electronic gas control without requiring an external power
source.
The electronic gas control incorporates an LED status
indicator with advanced self diagnosc features. The elec-
tronic Gas Valve monitors the operaon of the heater and
will ash an error code if it idenes an issue.
A temperature limit switch or ECO (Energy Cut O) sensor
located in the gas control valve is used to shut o the
water heater if the water temperature exceeds 189°F
(87°C) for 155°F models or 199°F (93°C) for 180°F models.
Gas Water Heater Operation
Insucient combuson air supply or blocked venlaon
can also acvate the thermal cuto switch. When these
condions have been corrected, the thermal switch can
be reset.
