Understanding Oven Safety IMPORTANT SAFETY Microwave INSTRUCTIONS Mkrowave ovens have been thoroughly tested for safe and offklent operatkn. However, as with any appliance, there are special lnstallatlon and safety precautkns whkh must be followed to ensure sate and satisfactory operation and prevent damage to the unlt.
-Do not deep fry in oven. Microwavable utensils are not suitable and it is difficutt to maintain appropriate deep frying temperatures. -Test dinnerware or cookware before using. To test a dish for safe use, put it into the oven with a cup of water beside it. Cook at 100% Cook Power for one minute. tl the dlsh gets hot and water stays cool, do not use It. Some dishes (melamine, some ceramic dinnerware, etc.) absorb microwave energy, becoming too hot to handle and slowing cooking times.
PRECAUTIONS TOAVOIDPOSSIBLE EXPOSURE TOEXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY... Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since open-door operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks. Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged.
Operating safety precautions To reduce the risk of bums, fire, electrical shock, injury to persons, or damage when using the microwave oven, follow the precautions on pages 6-7. Never lean on the door or allow a child to swing on it when the door is open. Injury could result. Never cook or reheat a whole egg lnslde the shell. Cooking at high cook power 1. Put food in oven and close door. 2. Set cooking time. Cooking at lower cook powers For best results, some recipes call for lower Cook Powers. The lower the Cook Power, the slower the cooking. Each Number Pad also stands for a different percentage of Cook Power. Many microwave cookbook recipes tell you by number, percent or name which Cook Power to use. The following chart gives the percentage of Cook Power each Number Pad stands for, and the Cook Power name usually used.
